This NFL season has been a ride for Davante Adams with the Jets after his trade from the Raiders. While Adams is known for his elite playmaking, even he can’t escape the struggles of the Jets’ rocky season. After the bye week, Adams shared his thoughts on the team’s struggles and what’s keeping them united.
In an interview with Kay Adamon on the Up & Adams Show, Adams didn’t sugarcoat what the team is facing. “Nobody’s happy,” he admitted up front, and who could blame him? The Jets came into the season with big ambitions, especially after the high-profile trade to bring Aaron Rodgers in last year. However, the 2023 season didn’t play out as planned, as Rodgers was sidelined due to an injury. However, the defense held up throughout the year. In 2024, hoping for a solid run from defense and an improved offense under Rodgers, the Jets had playoff hopes. Some Jets’ enthusiasts in the media even declared them to be Super Bowl contenders.
What has happened since then? A record of 3-8, the head coach fired, the GM fired, and in true Rodgers fashion, the QB1 is not sure whether he wants to play football in 2025. Where does Adams fit in all this? Well, nowhere, really. Not so far, at least. But despite the struggles, Adams is holding on to hope. “Everything’s still out there,” he said, speaking about the remaining opportunities in the season. Though the Jets have fallen short, Adams isn’t giving up on their goals just yet. He’s all in, pushing forward with the hope that things will turn around.

What’s the energy like in the #Jets locker room coming off a bye week??

Adams also took a moment to reflect on his time with Aaron Rodgers, who was “supposed” to lead the Jets to the top this year. The duo wished to run back all the Packers hits in New York, but all the hits we are getting are the Ls on the record. Fair to say, it’s not all down to Adams or Rodgers. There are structural issues in the organization, starting at the very top.
So, what’s next for Adams and the Jets? Despite the tough losses, Adams remains focused on finishing the season strong and giving his best. There’s still pride to play for, and Adams is not going to back down from the challenge.

Locker Room Vibes: Staying Strong or Falling Apart?
While on-field struggles have been clear, Adams confirmed that the Jets’ locker room is staying together. “Nobody’s turning on one another,” he said, indicating that the team isn’t falling apart despite the rough patches. This kind of mentality is crucial for the team, especially when the season’s expectations have shifted.
Inside the locker room, the Jets are sticking to their plan of self-improvement. After the tough losses, team meetings have focused mainly on working through mistakes made and moving forward as a unit. This is such a refreshing sign that the Jets haven’t given up—they’re just pushing through the adversity together.
