The Giants haven’t had the greatest of starts this year, but rookie WR Malik Nabers was the only positive after four games. Leaving out his three touchdowns, the Giants have only managed to score three as a team this season. Drawing blanks against the Vikings and Cowboys, they struggled to reach the end zone without Nabers bailing them out.
However, with the Seahawks game approaching fast, the Giants may have to go ahead without Nabers as he continues to deal with a concussion. Although the Giants have other receivers on their roster ready to step in, Jalin Hyatt’s involvement is the one to look out for. After joining the Giants last season, Hyatt hasn’t had the greatest of times in New York.
With Darius Slayton getting ahead on the receiver depth chart this summer, Hyatt requested a trade move away from the Giants. But nothing materialised as Hyatt confessed, “It’s been tough. Yeah, it’s been tough. You go into the season wanting to play, wanting to compete with your guys, with your brothers out there. And obviously, some things don’t go your way. That’s kind of what I’m dealing with.” Well, in his rookie season, Hyatt found himself being involved in only 51% of the snaps. This allowed him to rack up only 23 catches on 40 targets with no touchdowns.

Expressing his shortcomings, the 23-year-old shared, “I really believe that I’m not just a deep threat. I know that kind of spreads around. That’s what I’ve been focused on. I don’t just run a post, go, and whatever. I want to run the whole route tree, I just can’t wait to execute.” Well, speaking about execution so far this season, Hyatt has mustered zero catches on three targets with one drop in his 51 snaps.
But will it be enough to get anywhere near Nabers’ explosive start, which saw him record 35 catches on 52 targets for 386 yards? For now, we don’t know, but in New York, everyone seems to be confident in Hyatt’s capabilities.

Giants remain confident in Jalin Hyatt after Malik Nabers’ setback
Nabers continues to remain in concussion protocol as the Giants prepare for a tough challenge in Seattle. Them losing this game would further relinquish their chances of making it to the playoffs. When asked to express his thoughts about Nabers not making it on time, head coach Brian Daboll shared, “He’s down right now. Obviously, there’s certain plays in for players. If he’s ready to play, we’ll have those plays. If he’s not, we’ll have other things for our guys.”
Well, there is six-year veteran Darius Slayton, who has recorded 10 catches so far this season. Elsewhere, Wan’Dale Robinson’s 26 receptions may come in handy for the Giants this week. As Slayton expressed, “At the end of the day, we’re all pros. Jalin is ready, I’m ready. Wan’Dale’s ready. Whoever else comes up, maybe Isaiah Hodgins might get an opportunity if it comes down to it.” However, all eyes would be on Hyatt, who was eagerly waiting for an opportunity to lead this season.

Is the heartfelt confession from Nabers' replacement a sign of true leadership in the making?
Have an interesting take?
And when it comes to appreciating his talents, OC Mike Kafka shared, “I’m very confident in Jalin. He’s been a pro since he’s been here. He’s been studying his tail off.” Even Giants QB Daniel Jones remains confident about Hyatt pulling the strings in Seattle, “I have a ton of confidence in him out there making plays. Changing the game with his speed and ability to get behind the defense. I know he’ll be ready to go.”
Surrounding Nabers’ continued absence, Hyatt may be the one running the offense in Seattle. This makes us question whether he, manages to maintain the efficiency Malik Nabers plays with or whether the Giants will struggle without their star receiver. Guess we will find out ourselves on Sunday in Seattle.
