When the NY Jets went into the bye week, the players were expecting to have rest and add new strategies. But the management sent their GM Joe Douglas to rest too by firing him. They upgraded the senior personnel advisor Phil Savage to the GM position. However, he hasn’t been able to stop the mayhem at the Jets. Aaron Rodgers had publicly taken shots at the owner, Woody Johnson. Things weren’t good in the locker room. As fans expected, they took their step even before the season ended.

On January 2, 2025, the Jets interviewed Louis Riddick for the GM position. He’s got loads of experiences that might save the sinking franchise. Having worked in the front offices of Commanders from 2001 to 2007 and for Eagles between 2009 and 2013, he has a strong resume. The owner wants to sort out this ordeal as quickly as he can. That’s a good sign of rebuilding.

He was the 3rd NFL executive the Jets interviewed. They have already interviewed Thomas Dimitroff, who worked as the Falcons’ manager for 12 years from 2008 to 2020. He also has work experience with the Patriots under his belt, that too when Bill Belichick and Tom Brady were there, smashing rivals and winning Super Bowls.

Another interviewee, Jon Robinson, is a product of the New England Patriots of the same era when Dimitroff was there. He also has good GM experience, having served as Titans GM from 2016 to 2022. He even held the position of vice president there from 2017 to 2022.

The interviews were not limited to GMs. They had a dialogue with former NFL coach Ron Rivera for the head coach position. Rivera served as Panthers HC from 2011 to 2019 and as Commanders HC between 2019 to 2023. If the Jets secure him, it would be a great move.

The Jets’ approach is straightforward. They want to sort out these things before the offseason begins. A-Rod’s future is also linked to these moves.

Garrett Wilson clears the air on Aaron Rodgers’ relationship

As the year ended, NFL media shared reports that the WR Garrett Wilson might walk away from the Jets if Aaron Rodgers plays in 2025. On New Year’s Eve, the receiver quashed those rumors and said, “Yeah, I’ve seen some of that. Yeah, I mean, there’s no truth to that. At the end of the day, I don’t speak on things like that because social media is not real.

After this season, Wilson becomes eligible for a second contract. The question remains whether he would get it or not. The Jets haven’t talked about it yet. The owner is busy finding the HC and GM for the franchise. On the other hand, A-Rod’s NFL future is in danger.

While talking to reporters on January 1, the NFL veteran admitted that the season finale against the Dolphins might be his last game in the league. That shocked the fans. Everything will be clear in a few weeks. Whatever the future holds for him, A-Rod would definitely like to put his best foot forward on Jan 6 at MetLife Stadium.
