Erin Andrews has always been more than just a sideline reporter. From her early days at the University of Florida, where she was a member of the Dazzlers dance team, to becoming a prominent face in sports broadcasting, she has faced and overcome numerous challenges. Whether it was confronting personal adversities or breaking barriers in a male-dominated industry. Andrews has consistently been over the top in her field.

But guess what? Erin isn’t the only one with a growing name in sports journalism. Her younger sister, Kendra Andrews, is quietly carving out her own path in front of the camera. Though she’s not as much in the spotlight as Erin, Kendra is no less determined. She’s worked hard to make her mark as a dancer and actress. Paving her own way in the world of media.

What’s even more interesting is the shared bond Kendra has with her Alma Mater, Florida State University. Just like Erin with the University of Florida. FSU has remained a special place for Kendra long after graduation. And when the tragic events unfolded at the Tallahassee campus recently, it was no surprise that Kendra felt compelled to speak up.

On Friday, she took to her Instagram story to share her heartbreak, writing, “Thinking of all the students and faculty at my Alma mater. My heart hurts for you. I love you. @floridastateuniversity.” But that wasn’t all—she asked her friends and family for reassurance, writing, “FSU friends and family please let me know you are safe!! I love you.” It’s clear that FSU still holds a special place in Kendra’s heart, which made her message all the more personal.

Kendra, who graduated in 2004 with a BA, was drawn to arts and performance during her time at FSU. But even years after leaving Tallahassee, her connection to the university remains strong. So, when news of the mass shooting at the FSU campus broke, Kendra’s immediate concern for the safety of her friends, faculty, and the FSU community made perfect sense.

The FSU shooting incident took place near the student union, which resulted in two fatalities and six injuries. The suspect was believed to be a student of the Florida State University but the motive behind the incident is still unknown.

The suspect “had been in the Leon county sheriff’s office family, engaged in a number of training programs that we have”, Sheriff Walt McNeil said. “So, it’s not a surprise to us that he had access to weapons. This event is tragic in more ways than you people in the audience could ever imagine, from a law enforcement perspective.”

The FSU campus at Tallahassee sits just west of Florida’s state capital. And when the campus was notified of the shooter alert, ambulances, fire trucks, and patrol vehicles from multiple law enforcement agencies approached the campus as early as possible. “Our prayers are with our FSU family, and state law enforcement is actively responding, the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis, wrote on X.

The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation. And our prayers are with the FSU family who were affected by this horrific incident.
