The Cowboys‘ 2024 season was a NIGHTMARE for them! Losing their starting quarterback, Dak Prescott, in only week 9 pushed the squad to its knees. Regardless of how awful things were for them, Jerry Jones always praised and believed in the team. The billionaire knows that his squad had the potential to be a big deal and one small season will not harm their reputation. But, it kinda did. So to fix that, the GM has brought in significant talent to help their defensive line seem more menacing.

Yes, that’s right. Actually, after much discussion and bargaining, the team brought in a highly experienced DT. With this major roster adjustment, Jerry Jones appears to have fueled the concerns surrounding Micah Parsons‘ departure from the team. After all, the new Cowboys are a beast on the field. This star is none other than a former Jets player Solomon Thomas. Well, Yes, you read that right. The Cowboys have once again made an exciting move for their fans, with sources indicating that Thomas has signed a two-year contract worth $8 million.

The owner used his top player contracts—Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb– to free up some cap space. With some restructuring, he made sure that their cap was split equally in their deal, giving the team $45.2 million in cap space to play with in the draft and free agency. With the necessity for the team’s defense improvement, everyone knew that the majority of this money would be allocated to defense. But this is not exactly what happened. After all, Solomon Thomas isn’t the only one joining the team right now.

Jerry Jones and company eager to fix their roster issues ahead of the 2025 season

Every team in the first day of the 2025 league year has shown impatience in signing the player they desire. And among them the Cowboys are no different. The squad took an aggressive approach on the opening day, introducing two significant talents. Well, we know Solomon Thomas has joined the defense, but what about the offense? Duh! Obviously there is a new name there, too. While many have already heard that the second player they signed is RB Javonte Williams.

Shocked? Well, we were too. While rumors and reports indicated that the Chiefs and Andy Reid would sign Williams. No one expected Jerry Jones to jump in and swoop the RB like that. The 24-year-old signed the deal for only one year and is worth $3 million. But isn’t this a little less for an RB like him? Well, maybe. But, the RB currently has the option of increasing the money he takes. Williams can actually play well, and gain incentives. And with all the incentives, the man might make up to $3.5 million.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Solomon Thomas be the game-changer the Cowboys need after a disastrous 2024 season?

Have an interesting take?

But do you know which is Javonte Williams’ best game? Interestingly, his best performance to date came in his debut year. It totaled 111 yards on 17 carries. But why does this matter here? Actually, his stats came against the Cowboys solely at AT&T Stadium. Which, by the way, will now be his home turf. It’ll be interesting to see what else he can do there and how he’ll ensure he gets an extension with the team. Until then, stay tuned for additional updates.
