Ever since his inception as the Chiefs’ starting QB, Patrick Mahomes has been on the path of etching his name among the NFL greats. And most would agree that he isn’t far from the feat or even already has achieved the staggering honor. The comparisons to Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, and Aaron Rodgers hardly seem far-fetched anymore with the numbers and achievements Mahomes has on his side.
What Mahomes achieved so early on in his life and career, even most of these renowned QBs couldn’t. That’s why Nick Wright and his associates think that he will surpass Tom Brady and all the other veterans in the future and create a lane of legacy for himself as he redefines the game of football along the way. A couple of stats suggest that Mahomes is cut from the same cloth as Tom Brady, putting matters surely in favor of his success.

Nick Wright pointed out that Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady have had almost similar starts to their careers. He remarked how in starting 7 years of his career, Mahomes earned 3 Super Bowls, despite not playing in his rookie year. Tom Brady also goes in the same category as he earned 3 SBs in the 7-year time frame as well.
Brady, Mahomes, and Joe Montana are the only players with 3 or more rings in the league, and this for Wright shows how well Mahomes has played at such a young age in his career. About this feat, Mahomes humbly commented, saying, “I’ve had at least one of the top three starts to a career. I’ll put it that way.”
As pointed out by Wright in the segment, there still remains a factor that separates Mahomes from the other greats. “Unlike any of the other all-time greats, never, never a stumble, never a down year, never uh, missed the playoffs, never you know uh, Peyton Manning missed playoffs, Aaron Rodgers’ first year as a starter, Brady’s first year as a starter, all those guys, Montana had it, but not Mahomes.”
This past Super Bowl Mahomes won his third Super Bowl MVP award, joining Tom Brady (5) and Joe Montana (3) as the only players in NFL history to accomplish this feat. He made a case for Mahomes and added, “We’ve never seen him [Mahomes] bad. In fact, in the worst year he ever had, he won the Super Bowl anyway and was great the entire postseason.” The comparisons certainly reflected Wright’s perspective of seeing Mahomes in a completely different and awe-struck light, remarking him to already be multiple times better than his preceding famed QBs in the league.
And amidst this, the radio show host also came forth with a strong backing of Mahomes’ capability to achieve the 7 Super Bowl record of Tom Brady with the team and setting he has surrounding him.

The host of First Things First went as far as to say that Mahomes will win another Super Bowl this year while he is still 28, and by the time he’s 32, the QB would have won 5 Super Bowls, per the show host.

“I think he’s gonna have his fourth Super Bowl before he turns 30. Could he have 5 before he’s 32? If he’s 28 now, is that a reasonable…?” The supporting cast of the show mentioned that they couldn’t even “fathom” Mahomes not winning a Super Bowl championship in the next decade. At this pace, Mahomes could even match Brady’s 7x Super Bowl wins head-to-head.
Until and unless Tom Brady comes back, or there’s a new generational talent being drafted in the upcoming draft, there are not a lot of people who can stop Mahomes right now. Do you think he can go for a 3 peat this year? Let us know your thoughts below!
