Randi Mahomes' emotional farewell—how do you cope with leaving a place that feels like family?

In September, as the Chiefs took on the Chargers in Week 4, Randi Mahomes wasn’t watching from home as she usually does. Neither was she inside SoFi Stadium. Instead, as her son, Patrick Mahomes, lit up the field in Kansas City’s 17-10 win, Randi shared an update from the hospital.

“Watching the game with daddy today… prayers please for my dad,” Randi wrote, along with a picture of her father supporting the Chiefs from his bed and her youngest, Mia, sitting with her. With her father still hospitalized, Randi’s next update about him came on October 17. And, well, it was a heartwarming one: “Conversations with my dad have been priceless.. 😉❤️”

It’s times like these when conversations with your family get so much more meaningful. Just spending time together and talking about anything and everything under the sun? Yeah, few things can beat that feeling. And it’s evident Randi has been making the most of her time with her father, Randy, likely reminiscing about their memories together. Speaking of family and reminiscing, as she navigated through the emotions of seeing her father in the hospital, Randi also recalled some of her best moments with her “work fam.”

Until June of this year, Patrick Mahomes’ mother was an event planner at the Hollytree Country Club in Texas. She began working there after her divorce from Pat Mahomes, a former MLB pitcher, in 2006. And for 18 years, she dedicated everything to that job because not only did it provide stability, but it also gave her a feeling of independence. But in June, she finally decided to step away.

“Tomorrow is my last day at the ‘Tree’ Hollytree,” Randi wrote. So, after she signed out on her final day, one of Randi’s colleagues wrote her an emotional message. “I will always believe that the Lord gave me Hollytree and Randi at a time in my life when I needed them,” Meghan Howard penned. “A job to provide for me and my girls and a friend of mine who had walked the path I was heading down… The years, laughs, memories, ‘meetings,’ tears, life lessons, and even fights over the years will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Commenting on this post, another one of their colleagues wrote, “Can I cry already?! 😘” What was Randi Mahomes’ response? “same 😢 all day.” Now, a few months after the Chiefs quarterback’s mom ‘cried all day’ after retiring, she shared a heartfelt post from her Hollytree Country Club days.

Mama Mahomes took to her Instagram handle to share a throwback picture of herself with her ex-colleagues, adding a touching caption: “Best part of my day was crashing the staff meeting!! Miss my work fam.” But as she said while leaving the Hollytree, “After 20 years, it’s time to take this leap of faith.”

While the 52-year-old seems to be thriving in her retired life, it looks like the conversations with her ailing father seem to have struck a nostalgic chord. And that prompted her to reshare her love for her colleagues at the Hollytree Country Club. After all, reminiscing about her favorite moments from her professional life would’ve brought some much-needed positivity.

Randi has been struggling emotionally ever since her dad has been in the hospital. She has repeatedly reached out to her followers, asking for their support, too: “Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy.
