It took a running back for the Chicago Bears to get back on a winning track. After losing back-to-back games, the team bounced back by defeating the Rams 24-18. The hero of the game was D’Andre Swift. He caught 7 targets for 72 yards and 16 carries for 93 yards with a touchdown. Everyone’s taking notice and wondering about his performance.

The RB recently appeared on ESPN’s GMFB show and said, “I’ll be lying if I tell you I didn’t hear or see anything. I have a phone. So It’s hard to kind of not see anything hear anything but I just go to work every single day, with the mentality of getting better. It ain’t gonna rain forever. That’s kind of my mentality.” Swift is right. Though he wasn’t performing before week 4, he didn’t blame anyone and silently found his form back.

There was all kinds of talk about the running back after he struggled in the first 3 games. In the first game win against the Titans, he only recorded 10 carries per 30 yards without any reception. Though he looked rusty, everyone thought it was the first game. The questions on the form began with the loss.

He had a better performance (relatively) against Texans in week 2 defeat with 14 carries in 18 yards and 4 catches in 5 targets. However, he looked nowhere near his prime. In the week 2 game for the Eagles last year, he ran 175 yards, his career high, with a touchdown. But the consecutive loss opened the window for haters. And they started questioning his skills and fitness. During the week 3 loss against the Colts, D’Andre Swift had 13 carries in 20 yards with 2 receptions in 4 targets.

He persevered and came out on top. Week 4 was outstanding in the sense that the RB scored his first touchdown of 2024. But it came after all the bashing by critics and fans who called him injury-prone. However, his strong return to the form signals a revival for the team. His mentality is clear. ‘Work hard in silence. Let your success be the noise.

The team staff is a cheerful bunch now. Their hard work has paid off and they would want things to move forward in a similar manner.

Bears offensive coordinator praises D’Andre Swift

When the team signed a 3-year $24 million contract with the running back in March, they expected the 2023 version of the running back. Last year, he had 229 catches for 1,049 yards. But the first 3 games were a flop. However, coach Matt Eberflus, and OC Shane Waldron were confident of his abilities.

When D’Andre Swift changed gears against the Rams, the OC was on 7th cloud. His strategy clicked. After the game, Waldron said, “So for him, I know the start of this season was not what any of us were looking for from him. But he never flinched, never blinked, went right into the next game with that workman-like approach. So, it was fun to see him have a couple more opportunities there to really show his skillset.” Great praise, right? However, the running back wants more.
