Did the Giants make a mistake cutting Daniel Jones, or is the team just hopeless?

Well! Looks like benching and releasing Daniel Jones wasn’t the solution to the New York Giants’ problems after all. Tommy DeVito isn’t exactly what the doctor ordered for the New York football team. Though it isn’t fair to expect Tommy Cutlets to fill the void so quickly, the 30-7 loss to the Bucs has left us wondering why the Giants didn’t start Drew Lock.

A couple of Giants players expressed their dismay at the Giants cutting Daniel Jones, but all Malik Nabers was concerned about was getting the ball. Turns out, the former LSU receiver didn’t see much action against the Bucs either. All the Giants did was score a touchdown in the last quarter. But that wasn’t even the highlight of the game.

Baker Mayfield getting brash

The Bucs QB made an absolute mockery of Tommy DeVito after his touchdown with 12 seconds left in the first half. The ball got out of Baker Mayfield’s hands after he crossed the TD line, but nonetheless, it was ruled a score. But what the Bucs QB did next was funny, and lowkey sympathetic to Daniel Jones.

The Tampa Bay team was up by 17 points when Mayfield ran in for a 10-yard TD and decided to hit the Tommy DeVito “finger purse” celly. The camera immediately shifted to the Giants starter, and it was enough to wipe out the smile on his face. After the game, Mayfield was asked about his celebration, and for him, it was a “Tribute to Tommy.”

Have an interesting take?

Mayfield was an absolute baller today, coming out with 24 of 30 completed passes over 294 yards and a rushing touchdown. Sean Tucker, Bucky Irving, and Rachaad White also did their part and got one touchdown each. It’s astonishing to see that Baker Mayfield wasn’t sacked once at the MetLife Stadium. DeVito on the other hand took a beating.

The Giants’ starter threw for 189 yards and completed 21 of his 31 passes while taking 4 sacks. DeVito failed to score a touchdown. However, Devin Singletary saved the team from embarrassment. He scored a touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter. The abysmal performance forced Malik Nabers’s hands to call out his team.

Malik Nabers can’t let this slide

Nabers expressed in the past that he doesn’t care who the quarterback for the team is. “I don’t want anything, I want the ball. As long as you can get me the ball, we’re good.” But despite him making his priorities clear, he only had 6 receptions over 64 yards and was scoreless throughout the game. This caused him to crash out and go in on his team.

Nabers took his time just standing there, taking a piece of gum out of his pockets, putting it in his mouth, and then resuming his chat with the media. In his own words, he “was tired of losing.” This marks six losses in a row for the New York Giants. But it’s too late to say that Daniel Jones wasn’t the problem.

When news got out that DeVito was the starter for the Giants, DeVito’s agent, Sean Stellato was on the moon when and said, “Like Frank Sinatra said, the best is yet to come.” That statement aged like milk.
