Is Malik Nabers the next big thing for the Giants, or just another overhyped rookie?

After winning their first two preseason games against the Commanders and Panthers, the New York Jets are already the talk of the NFL world. Although the vet QB, Aaron Rodgers didn’t play in the first two games, he did come up with something interesting for Malik Nabers. And it looks like Jets HC Robert Saleh had something to say about Nabers, too. So, what did the coach and the QB have in their minds about Nabers?

During a presser on 21st August, A-Rod said, “I’m excited to see Malik (Nabers), see what he’s all about. (It will) be a good opportunity for him, going against our premier corners. #Jets.” Well, it looks like Malik will be facing Jets’ two-time All-Pro CB Sauce Gardner. But that’s not all, as Saleh came up with high praises for the rookie. And what did he say?

Per the New York Post Sports’ X post of 21st August, “Elite competitor. Freaky. You could argue that he could’ve been the number 1 receiver [taken]…he’s a very special talent,” said the Jets HC about Nabers. The Jets’ No. 6 overall draft pick comes with a national record of 1,569 receiving yards from his LSU career. And his spinning catch from the Jets’ QB against the Texans from the first preseason game, just adds to Roberts’ views of him.

With A-Rod’s challenge in front and praises from the Jets HC, the rookie WR is on his way to the Jets-Giants joint practice. On Wednesday, the joint practice takes place at the Atlantic Stadium, but it looks like Aaron Rodgers is neutral about playing “no preference,” as he leaves it all to the coach.

If you’re not preparing them for the hardest moments, they’re going to break. We’re trying to get them ready,” said the Jets HC while emphasizing the importance of the joint practice. With the Jet’s longest playoff drought (13 years), there is a ‘now or never’ feel around the franchise. But what about Rodgers? When are we gonna see him in the gridiron?

I think he is absolutely ready to go,” said Saleh as he talked of Rodgers’ potential to return before the seasons. The coach further added that A-Rod was already in shape to get back to the field, “where we needed him when he first walked in…His arm is still 30 and he’s got plenty of mobility.” Moreover, Rodgers seemed to be confident of his return for the seasons as he said, “I feel good about where I’m at with my body and what I’ve kind of put together” after the 19th August training camp.

Are we going to see the return of A-Rod against the Niners on 9th September?
