Cleveland Browns fans couldn’t believe what they were hearing. Their star QB, Deshaun Watson, who had just returned from a rotator cuff injury, had met with another one. And this one was far more serious. So serious that he had to undergo surgery to repair a fracture in his right shoulder. The surgery will see him sidelined for the entire season. Watson’s replacement has big shoes to fill.
In the 5 games that Deshaun Watson has played this season, he has helped his team win 4 of them. However, without him, the team’s record is 1-2. Will Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Deshaun’s replacement, be able to carry the Browns through this season on a winning record?

Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski shared the update on the Browns starting lineup for the Sunday game. Thompson-Robinson will be filling in for Deshaun Watson. P. J. Walker, who had mostly been the backup for Watson when he missed some games due to his rotator cuff injury, has been overlooked for the upcoming games.
In the game against the Baltimore Ravens, Thompson-Robinson just got to know a couple of hours before the game that he would have to start in place of Watson. He was under-prepared, and the Browns lost 28-3, throwing 3 interceptions. He also completed only 19 of his 36 pass attempts and failed to record a single touchdown.

But, assuring fans, he told cleveland.com, “It’ll be a clear difference. Like I said, I finally got my feet wet. I know what to do. I know what to study when I go out there.” However, his track record does not inspire confidence. Should the Browns start with Walker instead of him?

Walker has a better record than Thompson-Robinson
In the 4 games that he has played for the Browns, Walker has lost only 1 of them. On the other hand, Thompson-Robinson has lost both of the two games that he played. Walker also has a 154.5 passing yards per game record, as compared to Thompson-Robinson’s 65 yards per game. PJ Walker also has 4 years of experience under his belt, while Thompson-Robinson is a rookie.
Stefanski expressed confidence in him and said, “We think he’s a talented kid. He’s very smart, very diligent as a worker, and we’re pleased with his progress so far. But we’re going to certainly need all hands on deck as we move forward.” The Browns’ General Manager also placed his trust in the 24-year-old QB. “We feel good with Dorian’s progression.” Will he be able to redeem himself in the upcoming game against their divisional rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers?
