An NFL insider just dropped a truth bomb that might get Cowboys Nation scratching their heads. According to Schefter’s inside scoop, Jerry Jones might be planning some serious moves when it comes to locking down Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons long-term.
Despite Jerry’s drive to get deals done, Schefter’s hinting that Lamb and Parsons could be higher up on the priority list than Dak right now. “I don’t think they’re particularly close to a deal [for] Dak,” Schefter revealed in an interview with Rich Eisen today.
The buzz around was Prescott was supposed to be the first domino to fall, with his massive $55 million cap hit. Schefter’s throwing some serious shade at that notion, straight-up saying there haven’t even been “meaningful discussions” yet about a new Dak deal.

Instead, the insider’s money seems to be on Lamb and Parsons getting paid before the franchise QB. Schefter strongly put forth,“CD and Micah would come I think right now before Dak,” which was a staggering revelation from the analyst’s side.
Of course, Jerry Jones is not about to show his whole hand just yet. The OG owner played it cool, reiterating his patient “option quarterback” approach to these massive contract talks. Jones said cryptically during a recent press conference, “We’d like to see some more leaves fall. We’d like to see some more action.” Statements like these coming from the Cowboys’ camp and Schefter’s bold claim do not spell good news for the 30-year-old Dak Prescott.

Speaking of calculated moves, the Cowboys wasted no time exercising Parsons’ fifth-year option for 2025, locking in the All-Pro linebacker for at least two more seasons. “Parsons will be paid just over $21M in 2025, adding a guaranteed extra season with him in Dallas,” as reports confirmed.
Parsons has been an absolute monster since Dallas snagged him in the first round and it was no surprise for the team to want to continue working with this hardworking talent. After all, he has been the Defensive Rookie of the Year and holds First-Team All-Pro honors.

“If you’re asking me do I worry about things going up? Not worry, but I probably have as good a feel as anybody living on this earth what the cap is going to be three years from now, four years from now, five years from now. I really do,” Jerry Jones said to reporters. “We’ve got exceptional insight into where the cap is going to be more so than a lot of people.”
“The representatives for Jefferson and CeeDee and Chase are not all talking? You don’t think they don’t have their eye on something really big?” Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones admitted, shedding light on the cat-and-mouse games at play. Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – this contract chess match is getting more interesting than ever. It seems to be unfolded who will continue to don the jersey of the Cowboys and how will things match up for the players.
