But Kayla’s recent comments about the latter on Unapologetically with Angel stirred the pot in a way she probably didn’t expect. Shumpert’s ex-wife, Teyana Taylor, wasn’t thrilled and wasted no time firing back after Kayla hinted that her ‘boyfriend’ ditched her for the singer. Looks like that show’s name rubbed off on her a bit too much, huh?

Despite the drama, Kayla is now taking the high road. In her words, she’s focusing on being a better person: “I try to keep the promise to myself… To make sure that I am a good person before I can influence my followers.” It’s a nice sentiment. Although Kayla didn’t name Shumpert directly in the podcast. Her description—and some old Halloween costumes—left little to the imagination. Soon, everyone became convinced that she was talking about him. And you can guess what came next. Teyana snapped back, big time.

She accused Kayla of pulling the race card selectively, saying, “She pulled the black card when it came to Taylor Swift [Travis Kelce’s current beau]. But tried to bully the black woman that was married to her situationship.”

Kayla, for her part, claimed that Shumpert left her heartbroken when he lied for months before going public with his new partner. She even moved to New York for him, only to discover that he had already moved on with Teyana. The couple became a fan-favorite duo. Ouch! To top it all off, Kayla’s Halloween costume choice didn’t help. She dressed up as Teyana not long after the breakup, mimicking one of her famous looks. Gray tank, thong, and knee pads. It did not sit well. But this is not the only controversy, surrounding an ex, Kayla is in. Sigh.

On her recent chat on the Unapologetically Angel podcast, Kayla got real about the “level of hate” coming her way since Travis and Taylor’s romance hit the scene. She didn’t hold back, saying, “I’d be lying if I said this online chaos didn’t impact me.” It has been almost a year since the Chiefs’ star and TS Honestly and per Nicole’s admission, she receives hateful comments to this date.

So, can you blame her for taking issue with it and saying it does impact her? Well, we all know social media is like a minefield out there nowadays.

The thing is, Kayla’s no stranger to the spotlight, having dated Kelce on and off for five years. But the Swifties are on a different level worshipper of their mother. Nicole revealed that people are still flooding her posts with hate, debating her worth and career. You could hear the pain in her voice, especially when she reaffirmed that she had done nothing to deserve this kind of hate.

Yet here she is, taking hit after hit from the online trolls. Why? Simple. When you’re in the orbit of two of the biggest names—Kelce and Swift—you’re bound to catch some strays. No, that she deserves it, NO. No one does. But that’s how it is. And, indeed, it is bad and taxing.

Despite the mess, Kayla still holds some respect for her ex, calling Kelce “a great guy.” But don’t expect any warm reunions at Arrowhead. The two are keeping things cool, barely more than a head nod, as she explained, “Anything further would be spun into something crazy.”

The Swifties might be making sure Kelce is their “Mother’s.” But Kayla’s focused on protecting her peace. She does not want any piece of it.
