Another victory came in for the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10 on Sunday night football. And as obvious, the rookie coach Jim Harbaugh is happy with the team and their quarterback, Justin Herbert. His happiness is so extreme that he even gave a new nickname to the 26-year-old QB.
The Chargers defeated the Tennessee Titans 27-17 on November 10. After the game, during a press conference, a curious reporter asked coach Jim Harbaugh what impressed him more about his quarterback Justin Herbert – his arm or his leg, especially after his big plays. To which, the HC said, “All.”
Not only that! While giving high praise to the QB, Harbaugh changed Herbert’s name, by saying, “I’m just, I’m changing his name to Beast. He’s a beast, Herbert. Half man, half beast.” The HC couldn’t have been more clear about Justin Herbert’s impact on the game. He pointed out two crucial moments: first, Herbert’s incredible fourth-down touchdown run. Explaining this, Harbaugh admitted he wasn’t even sure how many blocks were set up, but Justin Herbert powered through, going “beast mode” to get that football across the goal line.

Then there was the sack in the Chargers vs Titans game. Herbert was hit hard, and as per the coach, most players would have lost the football. But Herbert’s strength came through; he held on, completed the throw, and somehow launched the football 10-15 yards! After watching the replay, Harbaugh said that he was convinced that no one else could’ve made that throw under such pressure.
Hence, he reflected on Justin Herbert’s skill and dedication, even mentioning how he’d seen Herbert carrying heavy bricks in the summer. In addition to that, Harbaugh wrapped up by saying Herbert’s greatness speaks for itself. No other quarterback in NFL history has completed more passes in the first five years of their career than Herbert. Hence, for Jim Harbaugh, being around his QB Justin Herbert every day is like being in the presence of greatness.
Whoa! That’s a high faith and impression that Justin Herbert has developed for himself in coach Harbaugh’s eyes. Now this also came up after people accused the HC of holding Justin Herbert back.
Is Jim Harbaugh actually holding Justin Herbert back?

Is Justin Herbert truly a 'Beast,' or is Harbaugh's praise just a cover for holding him back?
Have an interesting take?
The thing is, those who closely followed Harbaugh in Michigan, know that the HC Jim Harbaugh is known for running games as his specialty. But in Justin Herbert’s case, fans assume that the 60-year-old is holding him back as the QB ranks 29th in the league in passing yards. He still has to throw over 200 yards in a game. So, many wondered why Harbaugh still doesn’t have faith in Herbert.
Well according to many analysts, Jim Harbaugh isn’t fully trusting the passing game right now, and there’s a clear reason why. Justin Herbert simply doesn’t have the time. The offensive line is struggling, allowing over six sacks this season. And it doesn’t stop there. In the start of October, Trey Pipkins and Zion Johnson alone have let 14 pressures slip through. That’s a lot of heat on Herbert every game.
Now think about this. If he had just a little more time in the pocket, this season could look very different for him. Hence, with a strong line, he has the room to make plays. The Chargers know they have work to do on offense, which is why there’s a new head coach on the sidelines.

But this is the NFL, and patience is thin. It’s a win-now league, and with an elite talent like Herbert, the time to figure it out is right now. And it seems the faith is developing, as calling Justin Herbert a beast might change the perspectives of the doubters.
