The Jets’ season is struck in neutral, and the success feels like a distant dream now. Amidst the ongoing turmoil in the team, every morning brings new drama for the NY Jets. This time, it comes from the veteran QB, Aaron Rodgers, as reports swirl around his uncertainty for next season. Well, when asked if he’s returning in the 2025 NFL season, the Jets’ QB responded, “I think so!” and confirmed his availability. However, we now have certain twists and turns in the Jets’ locker room. It all started after the surprising revelation about Jets’ owner Woody Johnson.
As per the reports shared by The Athletic’s Dianna Russini and Zack Rosenblatt, Johnson apparently told then-coach Robert Saleh to bench 40-year-old QB following the week 4 loss against the Denver Broncos. Now the question arises: if Rodgers parts ways with the Jets’ which team would be willing to take a chance on him?

With a career spanning almost twenty years for the QB, the idea of benching him surely sounds insane. However, the tension between the Jets’ management and the QB continues to escalate.

Well, it would not be wrong to say that when Rodgers hears about this, he will feel betrayed. However, the real question is whether Woody Johnson’s actions have pushed Rodgers to a breaking point. If so, this would raise several questions about his NFL future for the next NFL season.
Johnson’s Betrayal and Breaking Point for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets
The disastrous week 4 loss against the Broncos led to a heated meeting between Johnson and the Jets. The owner claimed that the veteran QB’s performance this season is holding the team back and thus wanted to bench him. Eventually, after his tough decision against Johnson’s proposal, coach Saleh was fired by the Jets.

“The idea of benching the future Hall of Famer sounded so absurd that one coach asked whether the owner was serious – multiple sources from that meeting believed he was,” stated Russini and Rosenblatt. However, the later decision of the Jets’ management to not bench him doesn’t change anything for the team, as the Jets sit at 3-8.
Moreover, earlier this week, the Jets’ have parted ways with Douglas as well. With all the drama in the management, things just aren’t going the Jets’ way. But here’s the thing, folks, we all know that any game could be his last, but let’s hope he gets to go out on a high note.
