Aaron Rodgers is going to have an action-packed season right from the start. Just a day ago, it was announced that the Chiefs were set to go up against the Ravens in September. The world might be unable to wait to see Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson take the field again. However, a new day wound up bringing football fans another highly anticipated re-match between A-Rod and Leonard Floyd.

In a post on X, the NFL revealed that the New York Jets would make their way to San Francisco for their season opener against the 49ers. The post also added that the match had been scheduled for 9th September 2024. While the teams were intriguing, there was one thing that amplified the hype for the upcoming game. It was the fact that Aaron Rodgers would be going up against the same player that wiped him out from the 2023 season, Leonard Floyd.

During the Jets opener last year, Rodgers was set to make a stunning debut. However, the team had gone up against the Bills and lost. During the game’s first quarter, the quarterback dropped back to pass when the defensive end wound up sacking the 40-year-old and ended his season with a torn Achilles tendon injury that devastated the former Packers star. This also derailed the Jets’ journey to the Super Bowl.

Although Rodgers was completely “heartbroken” about having to sit out the last Super Bowl season, he wound up back at practice just 11 weeks after he had surgery to fix his Achilles. While the quarterback may have pushed it a little too soon, it may have given him more time to strengthen his leg before taking on another match.

At the beginning of the year, ESPN revealed that Rodgers had been back to practicing with the Jets. Although the practice sessions had been closed off to the public, word eventually got around about the quarterback’s impressive moves. While the 40-year-old had only recently gotten out of surgery, the coaches and his teammates seemed to think that the athlete was rather light on his feet, which gave them some hope for the 2024 season.

In fact, some of them, like DE Mekhi Becton, among others, opened up about watching the quarterback at late-season practice. The 25-year-old had claimed that watching Rodgers was like “watching Picasso paint.” Even linebacker CJ Mosely told the media that the quarterback had been “picking us apart and throwing dimes in there.”

With the quarterback still able to play like his Achilles injury never happened at all, he might just be able to pull one over the 49ers and bag another win. Luckily for his fans, it looks like the Jets’ quarterback will have his time in the sun once more. The only issue is that fans will have to wait until September 9th to see how it all plays out.
