Aaron Rodgers, quarterback for the  New York Jets, recently took to clarifying his stance regarding his near future. Amidst speculations regarding his decisions to play football or pursue a Vice Presidential bid with Robert Kennedy Jr., he has cleared the airs. As offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett raised concerns, Rodgers has now expressed his ultimate decision stating, “I want to keep playing,” seeking to lead the Jets to the Super Bowl.

The Twitter handle of Mad Dog Sports Radio published an interview clip of Aaron Rodgers with Sports Commentator Adam Schein, captioning Rodgers’ statement, “In the end, I was always playing.” As per the post, Rodgers stated that “he was always going to be playing football this year, not retiring and entering politics.” The tweet also directs viewers to the link to the full interview available on the Sirium XM app.

Despite his keen admiration for Kennedy Jr., Rodgers is adamant about prioritizing football over politics. “When it comes to working with Bobby, I love Bobby, and I’ve had a friendship with him for a while.” Rodgers goes on to point out that he has only considered two options, whether to retire to pursue politics or continue with his football career. He remarks, “One of the options was to not play and go down the route of thinking about being the VP.” However, he has made up his decision to go down the second path, as he adds, “The entire time, since September 12, my focus has been playing.”

Rodgers is not departing from the NFL for a vice presidential role. And, nonetheless, he is imminently focused on the offense strategy of the team. Nathaniel Hackett had acknowledged discussions were taking place regarding the team’s coaching structure during the offseason. Facing multiple challenges in the previous season, mainly because of Rodgers’ facing an Achilles injury after just four snaps replacing him with the backup QB Zach Wilson, things were not smooth. But now Aaron Rodgers has his priorities set.

Focused on Jets’ Super Bowl Victory

Rodgers has dispelled the concerns for the 2024 season after turning down the VP bid to stay with the Jets. He remarks, “I wanna bring a championship to New York, so a political career will have to wait.” Rodgers is seeking to go the extra length with the Jets to end the 13-season playoff drought and he enthusiastically looks towards a Super Bowl victory. Since the 1968 win, they are yet to make another victorious stride.

For the 40-year-old Rodgers, politics will have to wait as he is focused on leading the Jets to win the Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans in 2024. While he had stated that he was seriously thinking of running as Kennedy Jr.’s mate, tagging it as “a real thing,” he still plans to vote for Kennedy in November while supporting his views on vaccinations. Nicole Shanahan is now Kennedy’s running mate, as it leaves Rodgers out of the political equation.
