Aaron Rodgers finally clarified what happened between him and Robert Saleh on the sidelines. In the post-game presser, the media personnel wanted to know the answer to that burning question and it’s not as controversial as you might think. The reporter thought that the exchange was “awkward.” But his assessment was far from the truth.
After the 24-3 win against the Patriots, A-Rod took the podium and revealed, “It was not awkward at all,” Rodgers said. The reporter asked the QB why he didn’t hug the head coach, to which he revealed, “He’s [Saleh] is not a big hugger usually. So, I don’t know if he was going for the hug. He likes to do the two-hand chest push as well. But he talks a lot about two score leads. So, I kind of gave him push and said, ‘two-score lead.” That’s what happened.”
It was a special day for Aaron Rodgers because this was his first home game since 9/11 last year, when he suffered the dreaded Achilles injury. Jets and the Patriots are not only divisional rivals, but they’ve been at it since Bill Belichick’s sore departure from Green Apple. This game ended Jets’ 8 game home losing streak against the New England Patriots.

Now, let’s talk Rodgers’ numbers. The Jets quarterback completed 27 of his 35 passes over 281 yards and threw two touchdowns: One to Allen Lazard and threaded the needed to Garrett Wilson in the third quarter of the game. The performance was nothing short of “vintage Aaron Rodgers” that we’re so used to watch.
If it counts as something special, Rodgers threw his first touchdown at MetLife Stadium to Allen Lazard, his former Green Bay Packers teammate, who joined the Jets on a 4-year $44 million deal. While Rodgers’ relationship with Allen Lazard is solid, there are still some things to sort out between him and Garrett Wilson.
Aaron Rodgers might just make Garrett Wilson into an elite receiver
Remember the training camp rumors where A-Rod and Garrett Wilson were said to have some discourse? Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case now, does it? Rodgers made his feelings about Wilson clear after the game. “Allen and I have got a real good rapport and once 5 (Wilson’s number) and I get on that same page it’s going to be special,” the Jets QB said.
It’s salient to note that it was Rodgers’ 480 touchdown of his career and the credit for that goes to Wilson. Apparently, Rodgers has never thrown a touchdown pass to a receiver who was drafted in the first round. Safe to say that Rodgers and his Jets are soaring in the skies, proud and mighty.
