Three things brewing in New York this offseason: deli coffee, controversies, and drama! The Jets are hogging the spotlight, and Aaron Rodgers is the star of the show. Talk about a comeback after an injury-ridden season! Rodgers probably hoped for a smoother offseason, but the rumor mill has other plans. The latest buzz? ‘Trouble’ brewing between A-Rod and Jets’ rookie center Joe Tippmann. But now, a video is surfacing that paints a whole different picture!

On the morning of the 31st of July, Paul Andrew Esden, Jets’ Digital reporter for Heavy On Sports, posted a heartwarming clip of Rodgers and Tippmann on X. The reporter captioned it, “It’s all good baby! #Jets teammates Aaron Rodgers & Joe Tippmann shared a nice embrace/hug yesterday at #JetsCamp! 🥹” A relief for the Gang Green. With HC Robert Saleh gearing up for the season, the last thing he needs is his players dropping the ball on team chemistry.

In the video, Rodgers, looking like he’s just run a marathon of drills, slowly heads off the field. But just when it seemed like he might need a breather, the 23-year-old center (in jersey number 66) swoops in with a hug that could rival any game-winning play. Rodgers, ever the veteran QB, welcomes it with open arms, showing that even in the high-pressure game of football, there’s always room for a team spirit hug.

Then, if all seems well, what’s this rumored rift? Well, we can describe the scene. But you can make the judgment of what it is. Call it a ‘mentorship’ grill for the young Joe from the 40-year-old QB, or him getting scolded. It wasn’t a cool Rodgers.

On July 29th, Monday, the pads came on for the first time at the Jets’ training camp under the heated New York sun. The defense made sure to give the offense a reality check. A-Rod, who has been the picture of calm during this offseason, was visibly steamed. But what was ticking off the QB entering his 20th season?

Time for Joe Tippmann to live up to Aaron Rodgers’ belief in him!

Joe Tippmann, a second-round rookie out of Wisconsin, hasn’t had the chance to snap to Aaron Rodgers in a real game yet. And now, when he did, he was grabbing attention for all the wrong reasons. Leaving Rodgers frustrated. Talk about throwing a wrench into a well-oiled machine! It was a tough day for Tippmann. Those present there on the day counted ‘more than half a dozen’ snaps for the 23-year-old. Making the practice feel more like a scramble drill than a smooth operation.

ESPN’sJets’ Insider and reporter Rich Cimini took to X after the 29th July drill. The main concern should be Tippmann, who had Spencer Long kind of day… At least a half-dozen off-target snaps in shotgun, the reporter wrote. Even Coach Saleh was puzzled by Tippmann’s performance, noting, “there’s clearly something going on,” but assured it’s just a preseason hiccup. The 23-year-old’s snaps will need to be as sharp as a fresh set of cleats and it was anything but.

Meanwhile, Rodgers’ reaction could be the result of his confidence in Joe, but the young center did not live up to it. “I want to empower Tippman. I think Tip has a chance to take it over,” these words of leadership came out of Aaron’s mouth a week before he let out his frustration. One thing is for sure: the young players must learn from Rodgers’ wealth of experience and implement it into their game. Especially if SB glory is what New York is after!

There’s, however, no cause for worry just yet for the Gang Green. The good news? There’s still plenty of time to fix these issues. The bad news? The problems seem consistent. With the season opener on the horizon, Joe Tippmann must take Aaron Rodgers’ advice and improve. Will the Jets overcome these early hiccups and hit their stride in time?
