The New York Jets appear to be looking forward to a promising 2024 season. With the desire to finally shine and Aaron Rodgers most likely returning, the Jets have a massive opportunity to convert this year into a title-winning season. While last NFL year witnessed the men in green struggling without A-Rod’s presence because of an injury, the team looks in a better place with respect to the quarterback position.
The Jets don’t have a quarterback problem like many other teams and currently have a 10 overall pick. But, from the looks of it, the squad appears ready to help the other teams out at the right price. For now, a couple of sources have revealed that the team got offers for Zach Wilson but he is most likely staying. However, this situation of Rodgers’ presence and Wilson’s situation have flamed the rumors that the Jets are willing to give their drafting chances to the teams behind them.

Rich Cimini of ESPN did an in-depth analysis of the Jets’ drafting situation. To support Rodgers, the team will most likely want to trade their 10 overall pick to a more QB-needy team. The assumption becomes even more evident if Zach Wilson is to stay with the team. Earlier, the Jets owner Woody Johnson had mentioned how the Jets won’t be releasing the quarterback if they can’t find a trade partner for him.
For now, there hasn’t been any news of trade related to the young professional. In fact, the Jets have been also trying to find a team interested in the former No.2 overall pick but like Johnson mentioned, “If we don’t trade him, we’re going to keep him.” And if that is the case then GM Joe Douglas and Co. would most probably according to the rumors look to give up their tenth overall pick for other conditions that sit well with their roster.
Well, for once, we know that Sean Payton might be happy with this news. But the Broncos would have to deal with the Vikings with their 11 overall pick. Also, the Raiders are also in competition with their 13overall pick. JPAFootball on their X handle wrote, “𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗦: The #Jets would “really like” to potentially trade down from the #10 pick to a quarterback needy team, says @RichCimini.”

An excerpt from Cimini’s analysis of the Jets also reflected, “What they’d really like is a trade proposal from a quarterback-needy team, which would allow them to acquire a top-100 pick. A handful of teams behind them, most notably the Minnesota Vikings (11th), Denver Broncos (12th) and Las Vegas Raiders (13th), might be motivated to move up.” Meanwhile, the Jets GM Joe Douglas is not trying to repeat his past mistakes and is trying to make the O-Line strong to protect Aaron Rodgers from harm’s way.

The Jets on the right trajectory
Recently Douglas signed the tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses to the roster. But the problem with Moses and Smith is that they are 33 and prone to injuries. This is the perfect time for the New York team to bolster their O-Line to help protect their $75 million QB. The GM Douglas believes that this bunch of players is “an unbelievable O-line class.”

𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧: Seems more and more like #Eagles LB Haason Reddick is not leaving Philadelphia this season:
“He’s not going to be a fit for every defense. Most of his career, teams didn’t know what to do with him. So, I think that in Philadelphia is where he has the most value –… pic.twitter.com/NGHhf12cJj

Another major development around the Jets is that they have traded the LB Bryce Huff to the Eagles to obtain Haason Reddick, who had a 11-sack season last year. However, looking through the depth chart, we can also infer that the Jets need a running back, a safety and a wide receiver.

But, the owner Woody Johnson seems to be happy with all the trade choices that have been made till now, but still wants to improve the offense. The owner was “pretty impressed” and thinks that the team is “definitely better,” as reported by Cimini. What do you think of the speculation?
