Just think about the Jets’ fortunes for a second. Aaron Rodegrs and Co are just so bad from top to bottom that even after their 2024 season ended. Gang Green still continues to receive the worst possible news. And you know what? This update may not go down well in their chances of securing the services of a top coach.

As per the recently updated cap space for next season. The Jets rank in the bottom of 32 NFL teams. Yeah, that’s right. Their brilliant management of contracts has led to the Jets carrying a cap space of only $345K next year. What makes this number more embarrassing is that? The Jets had a slightly larger cap space before their 2024 season even started. They were ranked 21st with a cap space of $366K back in February. But instead of improving their cap space, the Jets have simply made it worse.

Let’s just say. It would be pretty hard for them to even sign players in the offseason. Their GM, Joe Douglas, was supposed to improve their cap space as the season progressed. But you know what happened? Woody Johnson thought he wasn’t the right man moving forward. As the 77-year-old threw him out alongside his head coach, Robert Saleh. Now, all of those decisions could blow up in the face of Johnson. And it could get even worse because of their four-time NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers.

Cutting or trading Rodgers before June 1st 2025, will incur the Jets a $49M dead cap hit. However, if the Jets decide to keep Aaron Rodgers post-June 1, then the $49M could be spread over two years. Well, it could offer them some respite, as the Jets will save $9.5M in cap space. See, you could be wondering what will happen if A-Rod doesn’t restructure his contract and ends up staying till 2026. In that case, the Jets would have to dish out a whopping $35M in roster bonus to the veteran QB and also take a dead-cap hit of $63M before 2026.

So things are looking pretty bleak for the Jets, either way. That cap space and lack of clarity about Aaron Rodgers’ future could only complicate things further. And you know. They might just struggle to bring their former player from the Lions’ defensive ranks. Yes, we are talking about none other than the Lions DC Aaron Glenn. For whom former Jets safety Victor Green is ready to wear his cleats again.

Former Jets All-time defensive legend weighs in on Aaron Glenn’s chances of joining the Jets

The Jets are doing whatever they can to secure Aaron Glenn’s signature. He isn’t just another coach whom the Jets have lined up on their coaching shortlist. He played over 100 games for the Jets with Victor Green. Yes, that’s right. Green, who was signed as an undrafted free agent back in 1993, spent most of his career in New York playing alongside Glenn. So the moment he saw the DC being named as a probable candidate, Green urged the Jets to do everything in their power to bring his former teammate on board.

See, here’s the thing: Green didn’t put forth the name of Glenn out of thin air. After watching a video of him talking about coaches’ and players’ relationships off the field, Green was mesmerized by how the DC makes his players feel like a part of his family. And that led to Green taking to X and reposting that video, writing, “This needs to be our coach. He is so real and right. I lot of coaches don’t have this mentality. And I can speak to that firsthand.” To make the deal sweeter, he even expressed his desire to come out of retirement again just to play under Glenn, “Hire the man. I can come out of retirement.”

Right now, only time will tell who will be given the mammoth task of rebuilding Aaron Rodegrs and Co. Because no matter who it is, they will have to bring their best to the table. Otherwise, the Jets’ 14-year playoff drought will just keep on increasing year on year.
