Is Aaron Rodgers's time in the NFL truly over, or does he have one last comeback?

Sitting at 3-7 in the NFL standings, the New York Jets and especially Aaron Rodgers arguably appeared to be doomed. Promising a couple of Super Bowl wins initially, Rodgers’s take now seems to be fake. And that’s why the Jets fans are unhappy with the QB and the team.

Hence, Mike Florio, in a recent episode of Sunday Night Football on NBC, speculated that Aaron Rodgers’s NFL future is in danger now. He suggested, “I don’t think anybody else would want him, right? Yes, I mean, oh, a contending team loses a starting quarterback to injury? I would counsel that team to go next man up. You don’t want to bring in Aaron Rodgers and try to jam a square peg into a round hole and make it all work, and give him a chance to walk off into the sunset with a Super Bowl trophy because it’s not going to happen.” Well! Stats support his words.

As per Florio, Aaron Rodgers has lost his spark. This is because, earlier with the Packers, Rodgers led the NFL six times in touchdown-to-interception ratio (4.53), six times in lowest passing interception percentage (1.4 ); four times in passer rating (122.5); and four times in touchdown passing percentage.

In fact, he also got 4 MVPs. But with the Jets, Rodgers, via StatMuse, “has a passer rating of 88.1 with 2,107 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions in 10 games for the Jets in his career.” Too low, right? Not only that! The analyst also predicted that given Rodgers’s age and possible future injuries, he might eventually step back. As per Florio, instead of “quitting,” he’d probably attribute it to an injury, saying he needs to recover fully and decide later if he wants to return.

Florio also believes that Rodgers will likely retire, but he’ll still make appearances….(on shows) to stay connected to the football world. But as per this theory, it might take some more time to happen. However, until then, the calls are already mounting for 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers to retire.

For instance, Chris Broussard stated, “Aaron Rodgers should retire after this year. There’s no shame in being washed.” Even radio host Gregg Giannotti (Gio) expressed, “It’s officially over. Aaron Rodgers needs to retire after this season. Joe Douglas, as much as we like him, is not gonna be here.” In addition to that, Gio also mentioned that “Rodgers experiment is dead, and it’s time to blow it up.” But wait! There might be some negative consequences as well.

If Aaron Rodgers retires, the team will lose some other players too?

Have an interesting take?

The Jets‘s 2024 season has gone from hopeful to heartbreaking. With their stars healthy, fans expected a playoff run. But at 3-7, they’re facing disappointment after big moves such as – firing head coach Robert Saleh, trading for Davante Adams, and hoping Aaron Rodgers could lead them to glory. Now, Rodgers’s future is in question. Will he stick it out, or will this be his last season?

Well, if he leaves, we could see some sweeping changes as well. For instance, with Woody Johnson eyeing a political role, GM Joe Douglas and interim coach Jeff Ulbrich might possibly be out. Even Davante Adams, who came to reunite with Rodgers, hasn’t found the connection still which he hoped for. As per NBC Sports, “Along with 69 touchdowns, Davante Adams has produced 7,590 receiving yards on 622 receptions with Rodgers at the helm” in Green Bay. But here in NY, they are still struggling to find the previous spark. Hence, after Rodgers’s exit, he might leave too.

On the other hand, Haason Reddick’s holdout and slow start signal his time may be short. Even D.J. Reed, a standout on defense, might find his worth elsewhere. Moreover, talking about Tyron Smith, who was brought in to protect Rodgers, has been struggling now. And who can forget Allen Lazard, who is currently sidelined with injury? He might also leave.
