When the Jets owner, Woody Johnson, came back home from the UK in 2021, his focus was to build a Super Bowl-winning team. After failing in 2021 and 2022, they brought in Super Bowl winner Aaron Rodgers. But things have gone haywire as we approach the end of the 2024 season. With 3 wins and 9 losses, things are not going well at the franchise.
Now, the host of WFAN Sports Radio, Evan Roberts, claimed that A-Rod was hiding his true intentions and claimed, “I think he can’t wait to get the hell out of here.” That’s shocking to the fans. Earlier during the season, the MVP had claimed that he wanted to play for them in the 2025 season as well. But this season has been a struggle.

Though Rodgers has recorded 262 of 419 passes (62.5% completion rate) in 2,627 passing yards with 19 touchdowns, the team hasn’t won enough games. The decisions taken by the management haven’t helped them. After 5 games, the Jets fired Robert Saleh and promoted Jeff Ulbrich. But his record is also 1-6.
The unclear leadership policies have hurt them. Since 2010, the Jets haven’t qualified for the playoffs. That record might not improve this year too. Amid the performance issues, reports of Woody Johnson considering benching A-Rod early in September increased the tensions. Things were already not very good between the owner and quarterback.
During a recent conversation, the fans were caught by surprise when A-rod took subtle shots at the Jets owner. It became a hot topic for discussion.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Aaron Rodgers' time with the Jets doomed, or can he turn things around next season?

Aaron Rodgers refused to praise the Jets’ owner
It’s a different thing when things are not well, but you keep it limited to the closed spaces of the franchise. However, not the one to mince his words, the quarterback clearly indicated that he didn’t like Woody Johnson’s approach.

When a reporter asked him on December 5 if the owner was supportive of the leadership (the coach and the GM) at the Jets, Rodgers replied, “I mean, I’d have to look. I don’t follow a lot of stuff. I’d have to ask you guys. Has there been a lot of public comments, supportive comments?” That’s unheard of.
Had he praised Johnson or given a clear answer, things would have remained cool. But it intensified as the reporter said, “Only firings,” to which A-Rod replied, “Yeah, so there’s your answer.” We haven’t heard from the management if they want to go ahead with the veteran in the next season. But the situation is getting worse.

The Jets are yet to play 5 more games. Their management might wait for the season to get over before taking any decision. After that, the picture will be clear.
