“I’m hoping for a little smoother ride this year,” Aaron Rodgers said on the Official Jets Podcast earlier this year. The last year was a bit of a letdown for the QB because of his Achilles injury. But, the player seems hopeful this season!
In a video posted by Jets Videos’ on their X account, the New York Jets quarterback mentioned how players need to roll up their sleeves and establish themselves from time to time. But being the legendary player he is, the MVP feels he doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone but himself. Rodgers said, “But I have a lot of pride in my performance.” The veteran further emphasized on 3-words, stating, “I expect greatness.” He was talking about expecting greatness from himself whenever he’s on the field.
Rodgers admitted he has always played the game with a chip on his shoulder. Since the Super Bowl champion has already given his best shot in the gridiron, he holds high standards for himself.

Moreover, the New York Jets’ HC Robert Saleh also spoke highly of the QB on Thursday. He said, “I think he’s in a great place. I think — not just mentally but physically — he looks awesome.” The HC is betting on Rodgers’ abilities and feels he is fully prepared and focused on the NFL season!
The Jets’ locker room looks pretty confident about their Week 1 face-off with the 49ers. However, is the team really ready to take revenge in this one-sided rivalry?

Have an interesting take?
The rivalry between the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets didn’t start when Aaron Rodgers rolled up his sleeves against them. But it dates back to 1971 when the 49ers knocked the Jets with a 24-21 score. Since then, the rivalry has always been one-sided, with the Niners leading the series with an impressive record of 11-3.
But it’s not the same squad that bit the dust in 2020 with a 31-13 score. The Jets have been pulling out all the stops for their Week 1 match against the Niners to rewrite the historic script. Strengthened with quarterback Rodgers and an offense like Garrett Wilson, the team is all set to face the 49ers’ defense. And that’s not all! Even the Jets have worked hard on their defense.

Cornerback Sauce Gardner has taken the charge to deal with the Niners squad. The Jets’ aggressive game plan with offense and defense no less than any threat. It seems like the team is in the driver’s seat.
So, with Aaron Rodgers’ confidence and leadership, will the New York team be able to rewrite stars or will history repeat itself in this tough battle? Well, with the Jets trying to be flawless on both sides of the pigskin, and the 49ers leading the rivalry series, we can expect fireworks in this Week 1 showdown!
