The return of Aaron Rodgers to the gridiron after his Achilles injury recovery is perhaps the most anticipated event of this season. But it does not look like it’s going to happen for some time now. The 4x NFL MVP has always been hesitant to put a timeline on his return. But in the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show, he revealed the date that he had initially decided to make his comeback.
But as it turns out, that did not happen and the New York Jets went on to play without him, but they did win the game. So, can we expect him to return this season at all?

Speaking on the show, Aaron Rodgers revealed that even though he wanted to play on Christmas Eve against the Washington Commanders, he did not want to do it at the expense of another player. Nick Bawden, who plays as a fullback for the team, was placed on the practice squad so that Rodgers could move from the Injured Reserve to the active roster. This meant that Bawden would not get to play till the time Rodgers was on the 53-man roster.
But the dilemma lies in the fact that Rodgers himself cannot start. This drew criticism from some fans who thought Rodgers was intentionally taking from the playing time of another player. However, Rodgers said that he did want to do it, but he was “overruled” and had to follow the orders from the higher-ups. As of now, the man is still on the active roster without actually being completely fit to play.
So, how did Nick and his wife react to the Jets’ decision?

As soon as the word got out on the street, Nick’s wife Alexis Bawden posted a video on TikTok where a fan could be seen venting his frustration that Nick had been cut from the 53-man roster. The fan was so dismayed, that he even wished that the Jets would “resign” Rodgers.
But Bawden’s wife did not capitulate and instead supported the team’s decision. “He’s fine!!” she commented on the post. Her remarks have now gone viral and the NFL even shared it on their X page. When Nick was asked about his reaction to him being cut in favor of Rodgers, who won’t even be playing, he said Rodgers had spoken to him about it and he was fine with the team’s decision. He also hit back at trolls and said that people calling Rodgers selfish are “so far from the truth.”

Other than getting to play, Bawden can’t complain about money since his salary for the season is guaranteed and he will be getting the amount regardless of whether he plays for the remainder of the season. Maybe Jets fans need to chill down a bit?
