“What was really cool about Aaron is Aaron has an eclectic brain, interests, and was always very well read,‘ said Mike McCarthy on the December 21 episode of 105.3 The Fan who coached Aaron Rodgers at Packers from 2006 to 2018. That’s been a long time. But things have changed. A-Rod moved to the Jets in 2023. But he couldn’t replicate the success. In 2024, the Jets have a 4-10 win-loss record after week 15. They are already out of the playoff race. However, he still doesn’t shy away from expressing his views on any situation.
That’s what Kelvin Washington noted during the December 21 episode of The Odd Couple show on Fox Sports Radio with Rob Parker. He made an interesting comparison and said, “He’s (Aaron Rodgers) always in the media. He’s always doing this. He always gives his opinion about everything and that is literally his choice. I don’t have a problem with it, but what comes with that is the scrutiny that comes along with that, that people will have with it same thing with LeBron LeBron chooses to put his head and his voice in everything. Hey political things, hey other sports, hey this, hey social commentary. That’s his right.” However, he also revealed the reactions expected in such scenarios.

Most people don’t like the NBA star commenting about everything. Washington highlighted this and added, “So what happens is man stick to basketball or man you doing this or if you focus on this basketball instead of this, you’d be doing better. So it happens with the greats. It happens with people with prominent names.” So Aaron Rodgers and LeBron James are opinion twins. And it’s right as well.
Not only giving his voice about different issues, such as racism and social justice. He has even setup the LeBron James Family Foundation to help children with limited resources. But that has also received criticism. In a February 2021 interview, soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimović asked the NBA legend to stay out of politics, to which LeBron James responded that he would never do that.
The same is the case with Aaron Rodgers. He also has something to say about everything. And most of his comments often attract backlash. After claiming on the Pat McAfee Show that most former NFL players turned analysts wanted to stay relevant, he is engaged in a full-blown fight with Ryan Clark, who called him a ‘fraud.’
Not only that, waters are muddy between him and the Jets owner Woody Johnson. A recent news article just made it more controversial. It’s a bit extreme.
Woody Johnson’s nepotistic traits exposed amid Aaron Rodgers backlash
A few days back, the Jets’ QB had questioned Woody Johnson’s leadership, claiming most fans didn’t like the owner’s tactics. The Athletic came out with different reasons behind the failures of the franchise. Some of them are hard to believe.
The first reason given was that Johnson used to watch the player’s rating in the video game ‘Madden NFL’ before starting a trade. He didn’t trade-in for the WR Jerry Jeudy in 2023, as his rating in the game was low. Another thing that impacted the locker room was his habit of criticizing the players on their face in the locker room. But the worst reason came from the family.

According to the former Jets executives and players, Johnson often took football advice from his teenage sons, Brick and Jack. It affected the decisions around the trade and other front office things, as the coaches and players couldn’t understand his rationale behind any decision. That’s a bombshell.
It happened with Aaron Rodgers too. When they won their first game on Halloween night against Texans under the interim HC Jeff Ulbrich, A-Rod came to the locker room with the ball game. But before he could hand it over to the coach, Brick took the ball from him and handed it to Garrett Wilson. It created an awkward situation in the locker room.
