On Wednesday, the New York Post reported that Russell Wilson would fly to the city to meet with the Giants. So if Aaron Rodgers were dreaming of playing for the Giants, he better put his foot on the brake. Most of the veteran QBs who were in free agency have found a spot for themselves. Rodgers and Russ remain in the wilderness.

Wilson will meet with the Browns. After that, he will fly to New York City. But where is Aaron Rodgers? The Green Bay Packers legend’s destination remains unknown.

After the Jets parted ways with the Super Bowl XLV champion, he has constantly looked out for his new home. The word is that the Steelers are pushing hard to pursue him, and maybe the Vikings, too, might be interested in Rodgers. But wait, if Rodgers signs with the Vikings, won’t he be repeating his Packers teammate’s footsteps?

Brett Favre, yes, the man we are talking about here!

Favre played with the Packers, won his Lombardi with them, and after returning from his brief retirement, signed with the Jets in 2008. When everything did not go smoothly between Brett and the Jets, he parted ways with the team. Favre then graced the gridiron with the Vikings for two seasons before hanging up his cleats.

Interestingly, Rodgers’ career trajectory would look similar if he signed with the Vikings. Enter former Packers wide receiver James Jones, who dropped an interesting tidbit about the situation. Jones has played with both Rodgers and Favre.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Aaron Rodgers destined to follow Brett Favre's footsteps, or will he carve his own path?

Have an interesting take?

Discussing whether the Vikings should give Rodgers a shot, the former WR said, “Should you take a shot on Aaron Rodgers? Absolutely, because you have a really good football team.”

James also mentioned that even if the Vikings don’t sign him, they have JJ McCarthy and that the team should not be cribbing over passing on Rodgers. “You did draft a young boy. Let’s go see what he can do. He might play at an extremely high level.”

Of course, you should trust McCarthy. Where will the young lads get the necessary experience if Rodgers comes into the team? The player performed remarkably well with Michigan, having 6226 passing yards and 49 TDs. Those stats would help the franchise get it going.

The former WR also talked about the Vikings getting brownie points if they draft the veteran QB. That is, Rodgers will help develop young QB McCarthy.

You always hear Jordan Love talk highly about him and what he meant to him and all that. Aaron loves mentoring these young boys. So that’s why I’m saying I think they should take a chance on him because I think JJ McCarthy will benefit from having Aaron Rodgers over there,” said James Jones.

Favre 2.0? What does the Packers legend think about Rodgers in purple

And one thing I will say about Aaron, since his and Brett Favre’s relationship was not good. When he was a young player coming into the draft, me personally knowing and talking to him about this situation, he always said if he had that opportunity, he would never do it that way.” That’s what James Jones said about Rodgers and Brett’s relationship.

Woah! That’s quite a hot take he dropped there.

Rodgers served as the backup to Brett for three seasons until 2008. In 2008, Aaron took on the starting QB role for the Packers, which lasted until 2022, including a Super Bowl XLV win.

But the harsh truth of this game is that even legends sometimes face downfall. Rodgers’ downfall began with the Jets. He suffered an unfortunate Achilles tendon rupture in his first season with the Jets. And the second season, well, you know all that better—all the controversies and drama.

So, now that the QB is finding a new team, Fox Sports reached out to Brett Favre, asking if Rodgers should join the Vikings. “By all means, sign with the Vikings. They’re loaded at pretty much every position,” said the legendary Packers QB.

So, there you have Brett vouching for the Vikings. But for now, there is no news on whom Rodgers will join. So far, the Steelers‘ name will float around after they lost Justin Fields to the Jets and were less bothered by Russell Wilson hitting free agency.
