“He’s the one who instilled in me the importance of working hard at a young age. He’s retired now, but he worked for the electric company, and I remember his work ethic,” AJ Brown once said about his father. These words from the Philadelphia Eagles’ standout wide receiver reflect the profound influence his father has had on his athletic career. But who exactly is his father?
Who is AJ Brown’s father?
Arthur Brown is AJ Brown’s father. He served as a director at the Oil & Natural Gas company, Southland Oil Co., in Jackson, Mississippi. According to an NFL.com report, Arthur retired in 2009 from his electrical service job after a serious accident at his workplace. The 27-year-old NFL player also adored his dad for pushing him to become the best that he could be. “I still remember him telling me at a very young age: If you are not trying to be the best, then you need to find something else to do,” the former Tennessee Titans player recalled.
AJ Brown’s father instilled in his athletic son not only an intense work ethic but also humility. An incident shared by his high school coach, Woods, substantiates this well. Woods disclosed in a conversation with the Philadelphia Eagles Inquirer that when he informed the NFL WR about the availability of the No. 1 jersey, Brown’s response inspired him.
“I’d like to take No. 1, but I gotta talk to my father,” Brown said. After talking to his dad, he informed his coach, “My daddy doesn’t want me to wear No. 1; that [means] I’m the best player on the team,” demonstrating their deep connection and humility. Besides his father, A.J. Brown’s entrepreneur mom is also one of his biggest inspirations. But who is she?
