Can Christian McCaffrey's return ignite the Niners' playoff hopes, or is it too late?

The Niners Empire just got one of its generals back. Ahead of their week 10 matchup against the Buccaneers, the team is feeling happy. Yes, you guessed it right. We are talking about the RB Christian McCaffrey. His confession was inspiring. There’s not just a physical injury, it scars the brain as well. The time off the field is not very enjoyable.

The RB talked about reporters after Thursday’s practice session. While exuding confidence, he revealed his comeback strategy, which was, “One day at a time, you know you gotta trust in god. I mean, it can be dark sometimes.” When you don’t find a doctor in the entire country for injury, it can make you depressed about the extent of injury.

McCaffrey hasn’t played in 2024 till week 9. Against the Bucs, the team needs him. They are struggling at a 4-4 win-loss record in the 3rd position in NFC West. It isn’t looking like a repeat of last year. While the Faithful trust them, a lot of improvement is needed in the game. The RB gives that edge.

One crazy thing about such injuries is that players never fathom themselves sitting on the sidelines, watching the game. That’s the passion. All athletes have always visualized the best action. Adding to this mindset, the running back said, “I think about football every day of my life, consumes about 98% of my life.” One amusing thing is how he got that 98% number. But that’s absolutely understandable.

49ers take RB out to make space for Christian McCaffrey

If you look at the Niners roster, there were 4 RBs. Isaac Guerendo, Kyle Juszczyk, Jordan Mason, and Patrick Taylor Jr. Out of these 4, Mason, and Juszczyk played last year as well. Guerendo was drafted this year by the team. So, once the management decided to include McCaffrey in the roster by removing another player, it left only one option, Taylor.

He arrived at the 49ers this year in April from the Packers and had a 1-year, $1 million contract. The team has waived him, clearing the route for the 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. There is a remote possibility of Taylor being re-signed to the practice squad. However, for now, everyone is pumped about the star RB.

The season is halfway over. Kyle Shanahan must be feeling great after seeing McCaffrey in action again. Things haven’t gone the way he would have wanted. Now there’s a chance. Can he do it? We’ll find out soon.
