George Kittle would surely rack up some medals if football was a part of the Olympics. However, for now, he would just have to wait and cheer for the team USA showing their athletic prowess in the mega event happening in Paris. The Americans captured a staggering 18 medals across the Olympics so far and Kittle couldn’t be prouder.

However, there is a special story emerging out of the shot-put side of the Olympics. Ryan Crouser became the first shot putter, man or woman, to win three consecutive gold medals including the last two Olympic events at Rio and Tokyo. But Crouser isn’t the only one putting the US on the map. It’s also Joe Kovacs, who won his 3 consecutive silver medal, leaving Kittle all thrilled.

The San Francisco 49ers receiver, George Kittle, took to Instagram and shared Ryan Crouser and Joe Kovacs’ success on his story. The caption on the photo said “1-2 at the last three Olympics,” as the athletes wore the US flag across their bodies with a huge smile on their faces. But this feat wasn’t easy to come by, especially for Crouser.

Even after being injury-riddled the last two years, Crouser took the gold medal with a throw of 22.90m. The Olympian won the 2023 World Championship despite having blood clots in his left leg. 2024 was not forgiving to him either because he hurt himself while bench pressing and had to undergo two procedures, one on his elbow and the other on his pectoral.

He had self-doubts but made past it with a flair. “At the back of your mind, it’s like, ‘Man, at 31, am I ever going to get past this?’” Crouser revealed his condition. Yet, the athlete was able to accomplish great success with his self-belief and relentless efforts. Though Crouser was the highlight of the shot-putting event, we can’t forget about Joe Kovacs, who won his 3 consecutive silver medal at the Olympics.

He acquired the position after his throw of 22.15 meters and expressed his elation as Team USA clinched crucial spots in the Olympics. “Of course, I wanted the gold, but I’m really proud of how I did that last throw,” said Kovacs and added, “I had to go to a pretty deep place to find that. I’m really proud. It’s that focus that I’m proud of.”

It’s amazing to see these athletes come out on top despite the hardships they have been facing for the last couple of years. In the midst of this, the success that Simone Biles is having in Paris is something unprecedented and it didn’t fly past the NFL players either.

Simone Biles’ injury during warmup before her final routine was a jump scare to a lot of her fans. However, through sheer willpower, she was able to claim her second Olympic all-around crown in Paris 2024. Biles 59.131 total convinced a lot of football players that she continues to be the torchbearer of gymnastics and that the future of Olympic gymnasts is in safe hands.

Jason Kelce and Simone Biles’ NFL husband Jonathan Owens were her biggest supporters throughout the event. They sat in the front row with huge smiles on their faces as Biles made the whole country proud with her routine. But while Kelce was just a spectator here, his words inspired some other people to win the gold at the Paris Olympics.

The US Men’s rowing team also won a gold at the Olympics, but the motivation to do that came from Kelce’s 2018 speech after the Eagles won the Super Bowl. “You know what an underdog is? It’s a hungry dog,” Kelce said, later highlighting, “Bottom line is, we wanted it more. . . . Everybody wanted it more. And that’s why we’re up here today.”

Those were the words that Justin Best and his rowing team listened to before the competition on July 28. Football players and Olympians inspire each other alike. As it happens, Flag Football will be a part of the LA28 Olympics, and both these worlds will collide to give Team USA a few more potential medals in the pockets.
