The fire that Brandon Aiyuk started is not slowing down. The San Francisco 49ers voiced his discontent after not getting the extension that he was hoping for. Earlier, he posted a TikTok where he was on a call with Jayden Daniels and said, “They don’t want me back,” and all hell broke loose. Now Jayden Daniels posted something that might be a bad omen for the 49ers.

The Washington Commanders’ covered second overall pick took to Instagram and was caught “twinning” with Brandon Aiyuk. The San Francisco 49ers WR is in his last year with the team and things might not turn out that well in the next season. But for now, the ex-ASU QB and receiver are out shopping and having a good time.

Daniels’ latest Instagram Story shows Aiyuk and him in a clothing store shopping around and taking pictures. The name of the store was not revealed, not that it’s important. What’s important is that Aiyuk and Daniels are rekindling their old friendship. They’re wearing a white t-shirt with nearly identical sweatpants. Jayden’s wearing the classic Air Force 1’s while Aiyuk can be seen wearing white Asics shoes.

Daniels captioned the story, “twins [emoji].”  The speculations of the 49ers receiver getting traded next year are gaining huge traction right now. Everything changed when Justin Jefferson scored a monumental deal with his team, which made him the highest-paid non-QB in the league. Jefferson got paid after Amon-Ra St. Brown secured a 4-year $120 million deal with $77 million in guarantees.

Aiyuk wants to be paid the same amount of money, but instead, the 49ers might have him play on a franchise tag. But despite the common opinion about Aiyuk, there’s one person who still believes that the 49ers don’t want to do away with Aiyuk.

There’s still a chance for Brandon Aiyuk

Revered journalist Adam Schefter talked to Pat McAfee about the receiver’s potential extension. Aiyuk wants to be paid $30 million a year, but the 49ers don’t see it as a viable choice for the team. Considering the future, they will have to pay Brock Purdy a huge wad of cash when his rookie deal comes to an end. It will be 2 more seasons before that happens.

Schefter told Pat McAfee, “Well, I think what happened here. Let me state for the record that the 49ers absolutely DO want Brandon Aiyuk back despite what he says, but they don’t want him back as he thinks at the price that he is seeking. That is where the breakdown occurs at this point in time.” The argument about Purdy makes sense from here on out.

Trevor Lawrence opened a new lane for the quarterback and 2-years later, the market would be so inflated that the $55 million a year will look better to the team owners in hindsight. Hence, the 49ers might not want to gamble their money on Aiyuk, who has not been utilized a lot, as told by his reception stats.

If the WR does get a franchise tag, the contract will range around $22-$26 million next year, which is still not close to him being the highest-paid receiver in the league. There are other big fish in the sea. Do you think the 49ers will keep Brandon Aiyuk in the next season? Will he get an extension after his antics and lack of trust?
