When it comes to speedsters, one name that often comes up is Lamar Jackson. But with the NFL Combine underway, it seems that a future NFL player could beat him. He did not officially run a 40-yard dash during his Combine. But he did so at Louisville Pro Day, so his number is not an official one.
The newcomer on the scene is Xavier Worthy, and he is all set to be the standout wideout in the Draft in April. Lamar is known for his rushing game, but how exactly does his speed compare to that of Worthy?

Lamar Jackson boasts an impressive 40-yard dash time of 4.34 seconds. His record rivals that of NFL legend Mike Vick, whose time was just a fraction faster at 4.33 seconds. Jackson’s acceleration on the field is truly remarkable, as evidenced by his record-breaking feat of reaching 5,000 rushing yards in just 82 games, the fastest by any quarterback in NFL history.

Xavier Worthy, the standout WR from the Texas Longhorns, recently made waves with his lightning-fast 40-yard dash time. He clocked in at an astonishing 4.21 seconds on his second attempt. According to Next Gen Stats, Worthy reached an eye-popping speed of 24.21 miles per hour.
As soon as players came to know about it, they took to X to congratulate the young wideout.

Among the notable online responses to Worthy’s performance was a reaction from Tyreek Hill, the star wide receiver of the Miami Dolphins and a Super Bowl champion. He said on X, “4.2 is crazy sheesh.” It made perfect sense that a player known for his blazing speed in the NFL would react to Worthy’s record-equalling achievement. However, Worthy’s speed also caught the attention of other prominent figures in the league, including another speedy NFL wide receiver, DeSean Jackson. He said, “Young fella Xavier Worthy got rollers. 4.22 sheeeeeeeesh.”

3x Super Bowl MVP winner Mahomes was also not too far behind. He expressed with admiration, “4.25… crazzyyyy”. He then realized that Xavier’s actual speed was 4.22. Mahomes then replied to his tweet saying, “😂😂😂 my bad 4.22….”.
Worthy’s remarkable time surpasses the previous record of 4.22 seconds, which was set by John Ross III at the 2017 combine. Ross went on to be selected as the No. 9 overall pick in the draft and was the third receiver chosen. What do you think will be Worthy’s Draft pick? Let us know in the comments below.
