The offseason festivities for the NFL are beginning. And before the highly anticipated NFL 2024 Draft takes place, the 2024 NFL Combine is on everyone’s radar. However, this year the NFL Combine might be missing some of its star-studded guests!
Some of the top coaches are skipping the event entirely. Though most of the Combine week is still remaining, the likes of Dallas Cowboys’ head coach Mike McCarthy and the San Francisco 49ers’ HC Kyle Shanahan won’t be present. Are “unemployed coaches” to blame for this?

From the Los Angeles Rams‘ HC Sean McVay to Matt LaFleur of the Green Bay Packers, many had already declined to attend the NFL Combine. Now McCarthy and Shanahan are also not going to be among the attendees. According to legendary sportswriter Peter King, the reason is a simple case of avoiding the joblessness of various coaches in football.
“The fact that this is a job convention and there are people who are unemployed there who are hitting every coach”, said King to Mike Florio. King talked about the nuisance of attending the NFL Combine for the top coaches, who have to deal with this scenario for a week!
Florio pointed out another aspect as he said, “Everything is recorded. I (head coach) can watch it at my leisure. I don’t disrupt my routine and I can participate in the 15-minute interviews with the prospects via Zoom”. So, which are the top coaches that will be attending the NFL Combine in Indianapolis?
Head coaches to look forward to at the Combine
Despite some of the biggest head coaches unwilling to deal with the hassle of the NFL Combine. The 3X Super Bowl winner HC, Andy Reid for the Kansas City Chiefs, is in attendance. The Harbaugh brothers, Jim and John, are also in Indianapolis to attend the combine.

While, Robert Saleh of the New York Jets and Jerod Mayo of the New England Patriots are reported to make cameos later in the week. Mike McDaniel of the Miami Dolphins will also be present, among the head coaches in attendance.
