Zach Wilson hasn’t had the best of seasons in NFL 2023. Following an inspirational win moments after Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles injury, the QB has slowly but surely dwindled back into the old narrative of not being good enough. The former No. 2 overall pickup has been benched for the second time in a row and is now demoted to QB3. The last couple of games are a testament that the fans and the team are seemingly starting to lose faith in the QB. Wilson’s younger brother, on the other side, has displayed nothing but progress.
Not many may be aware, but Zach Wilson isn’t the only QB to come out of the Wilson family. His younger brother Isaac has followed Zach’s footsteps into the gridiron and lately has garnered much love for his mind-boggling moments on the gridiron. While Wilson may have left fans rain-soaked last year and craving this year, Isaac is definitely picking up pace.

It’s no breaking news that Zach Wilson has been underperforming with the Jets. It is too early to decide among the three reasons – over-expectation, a troublesome tutelage, or the pressure. But it hasn’t been a miss by the NY Jets fans how badly they want him off the starting QB role after Aaron Rodgers‘ unavailability. Such a notion will put a dampener on anyone, but Zach can find solace in Isaac’s progress.

Like Zach, Isaac has grown a reputation as a hot commodity because of his outstanding performances lately. While at Utah Utes, the four-star QB has scored 62 TDs in just 14 games. Zach on the other hand only ever recorded 33 TDs as his best output, which came in the 2020 season with Brigham Young. Isaac has already outperformed Zach’s best college output by a milestone and then some. This will surely inspire conversations from football enthusiasts wondering if Isaac could outdo his older brother.
Zach Wilson’s younger brother, Isaac Wilson, may be the prospect Zach was actually supposed to become.

While that conversation may be a step or two away, it won’t stop any comparisons between the two in the present. Amidst a seemingly meteoric rise by Isaac, Zach Wilson has seen his stock plummet. The latest nose dive came at the hands of Robert Saleh when he hammered the final nail in the coffin.

The Jets are seemingly upset as they watched Zach Wilson fail snap after snap for two consecutive seasons. Now, Wilson is benched for the Miami Dolphins match on Black Friday. This comes as a shock but not a surprise despite Robert Saleh’s dedication and backing to the QB. The Jets’ HC vested his faith in the QB since the start of the season, but following the defeat at the Bills, he has announced that Tim Boyle will take over the starting QB role. In the next matchup, Wilson has been tagged as the signal caller.
Although the relegation comes like a gut punch, Zach Wilson has handled it well as visible in the latest press appearances. He has backed Tim Boyle to succeed and wishes him well while acknowledging his own shortcomings in the process. The once highly touted prospect is now witnessing the fall of his once highly regarded potential and abilities.

But with time passing by for him to make his mark, his future with the Jets and the NFL stands under a cloud of doubt. Irrespective of that, he’ll be extremely proud and hopeful of Isaac Wilson as he eventually takes his first steps toward the NFL following an amazing season so far. But Wilson’s trouble also comes as a season of joy and pride as Isaac continues to pick the best from his elder brother.
