On the latest episode of the ‘Get Up’ show, all the hosts delved deeper into the Super Bowl game and how well the Chiefs’ defense contributed to their win. Moreover, analyst Dan Orlovsky couldn’t stop being awestruck by Steve Spagnuolo, the defensive coordinator for the team, and his efforts with the members of the side to bring them to this level.

He said, “They got into the playoffs because of their defense. They won the Super Bowl on the backs of their defense. Kansas City was more physical at the line of scrimmage on first down, they timed their pressures. They won their Super Bowl because of that. You guys know this, you sit down with defensive coordinators, Spags [Spagnuolo] is one of them, you say, “Hey coach, what’s the goal of the game?” Every single one of them says we have to stop the run. The one you feel, truly means it, is Spags. And he made it very clear.”

Thus, the Chiefs’ defense took precedence over their offense which was significant in the 3rd quarter of the game as well. Now that Spagnuolo’s Chiefs have won yet another Super Bowl, he has undoubtedly secured his name in the history of the franchise and the sport of football.

With this win, Steve Spagnuolo became one of NFL history’s most prominent defensive coordinators. He is the first coordinator to win titles with several teams in the league. Moreover, after winning his fourth Lombardi Trophy, he broke a five-way tie with Richie Petibon, Charlie Weis, Romeo Crennel, and Josh McDaniels, who couldn’t win more than three trophies.

But with all these accolades to his name, Spagnuolo shared that he wishes his legacy should be measured by the person he was and not by his trophies. He said, “It’s always been about trying to influence, help, mentor, better somebody and something, and it happened to be football. So, I hope when it’s all said and done, it’ll be the relationships and I would’ve been able to at least help some guys along the way.”
