Irsay penned down an emotional and heartfelt message through his post which read ?I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Matt Ulrich. Matt was with us only two seasons ago, but left his mark on many.?

He then heaped praises and gave condolences to his family, “Great guy, I hear he was a great dad—and he was Super Bowl champ. My prayers to his family.” The words from the Colts’ owner reflect the deep impact Ulrich had left on many lives. Though the cause of his demise remains unclear, the whole NFL world seems to be stricken with grief.

Matt Ulrich had been the team captain of Northwestern University and was named National Strength and Conditioning All-American in 2004, one year before joining the NFL. He graduated from Streamwood High School in Streamwood, Illinois in Chicago. He went on to win All-State and All-Midwest honors in football.
