Everyone knows Aaron Rodgers adores Deion Sanders! That too, despite Sanders once saying that Rodgers would never see a Super Bowl again. It had happened when he was still with the Packers. The Packers had just lost the NFC Championship to the San Francisco 49ers. But that didn’t diminish his respect for Sanders.
And now, in a recent podcast with Cameron Hanes, he described the moment that he first met the legendary player. It’s a meeting he could never forget.

You rarely think of Sanders and Rodgers falling into the same timeline. But it happened! They even played against each other. It happened on November 27, 2005. Rodgers was with the Packers, and Sanders was with the Falcons. He was still a rookie, and it was one of his early games as a backup QB. He was called to the gridiron to play and had to face Sanders, who was the Falcons’ cornerback.
“I’m like you know, some 21 year old pimple face kid. You know, like hey, this is really cool. I mean, I know we’re down 41 to 3 but like I’m on the field with you and you’re a legend. You know, like it was a really cool moment. Like a “Welcome to the NFL”. Like I’m on the field with Dieon f**king Sanders,” recalled Rodgers.
The Packers did end up losing the game, but it will be one that Rodgers will always remember fondly. After all meeting your hero is something that one cannot easily forget. And his admiration for him has only grown over the years.

Rodgers expresses his awe for Sanders
Aaron Rodgers especially admires Deion Sanders’ for his transformative work with the Colorado Buffaloes’ football team. During a September appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers didn’t hold back on his praise. Echoing sentiments he’s picked up from Jets’ HC Robert Saleh, Rodgers said, “Saleh said this, ‘If there’s a lot of crows pecking and a lot of people s**t talking, he must be doing something right.'”
He spoke about the Buffaloes’ ability to shut down their critics. Especially after their stunning performance in the first week against TCU and a subsequent victory over Nebraska. Rodgers is no stranger to facing criticism himself throughout his 19-year NFL journey. And he said he resonated with the scrutiny Sanders has faced, both on the field and on the sidelines.

Could one day the two personalities meet on the gridiron again? Maybe as the coaches of opposing teams? But that can only happen if Deion makes the leap to the NFL and Rodgers transitions into coaching.
