But Jones said that there is no bad blood from his side, and if anything, he truly admires Brady. “I don’t know what he has against me. I don’t have anything against him. I think he’s a heck of a player.” But on turning back the pages of history, we would find out the many instances where the two clashed against each other.
Jones and Brady: An ongoing tussle?
On December 8, 2019, while Brady was playing for the New England Patriots, Jones sacked him and he suffered a quarterback hit. In the second quarter, the two collided, facemask-to-facemask. After that, the two engaged in a verbal tussle. Then, in February 2020, Mahomes’s teammate appeared as a guest on the Pardon My Take podcast. When he was asked about his rivalry with Brady, he said that he loved to trash-talk players on the other side of the ball. He said that he didn’t mean anything and was just playing mind games to get under the player’s nerves.
Jones also admitted to having provoked Brady by quipping at his age and asking him if it was time to retire and walk off into the sunset. The final battle came on November 29, 2020, when the Chiefs won over the Bucs 24-24. In that game as well, the two were seen yelling at each other.
Now the Chiefs will take on the Patriots in the upcoming week. Fortunately for Chris Jones, there will be no Tom Brady this time to disrupt him and “hate” him.
