On Monday’s Super Bowl opening night, 11-year-old NFL Network reporter Jeremiah Fennell asked the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to form an All-Time fantasy team for himself. Fennell gave a condition to Mahomes in this game that he couldn’t draft his present teammates.
However, the former players of the team and the current or ex-players of any other team were allowed to pick the 28-year-old QB. Whereas, on the other hand, Fennell, too, in the game, was picking NFL players as per their positions.
As receivers, Mahomes picked Randy Moss, Tyreek Hill, and Ja’Marr Chase. For the tight end position, he picked Rob Gronkowski, and for defensive back, Mahomes’ top pick was none other than Deion Sanders. And when picking defensive end, Mahomes chose Von Miller. Here, Fennell preferred to pick Maxx Crosby. Many wouldn’t be surprised at the response the quarterback gave when he heard the name of the Raiders’ defensive end.
The 2-time Super Bowl champion immediately said, “Man, I hate playing that guy. I hate playing that guy.” This isn’t the first time Mahomes highlighted the fact that he doesn’t want to play against him.
Earlier when the Chiefs were going to square off against the Raiders in a November game this season, Mahomes shared reasons behind his on-field rivalry against Crosby.
Why does Patrick Mahomes not like to play against Maxx Crosby?
There’s more to Mahomes’ dislike for Crosby than the head-butting incident. It is fair to suggest that the reason also lies in the gameplay. Ahead of their Week 12 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, Patrick Mahomes appeared in the media to talk about his rivalry with Maxx Crosby.
During that pregame press conference, Mahomes said, “I don’t like playing against him because I know what type of player he is and the mindset that he comes in with. I don’t talk about a ton of trash. I just try to stay fired up and go out there and win. He’s the same way. He wants to win as much as anybody, and that’s why I have so much respect for him but at the end of the day, we’re competing. That’s what competitors do,” he explained.
In Netflix’s Quarterback Episode 1, a clip of the Chiefs vs Raiders game was shown, highlighting the scuffle between the two stars. In that clip, Mahomes opened up about his interactions with Crosby, and how mind games are played on the gridiron. It’s a sight for NFL enthusiasts to watch players getting into each other’s heads.

On this, Mahomes mentioned Crosby’s attempts, like a little push or shove, holding him longer during plays, and punching him. That situation escalated when Crosby aggressively tackled Mahomes, making him fall on the ground, and leading the quarterback to express his frustration on the field.
