Hill was signed by the Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft. Hence when Forston joined the squad, Hill was his senior. And it did not take long for Cheetah to put on his mentorship cap for the youngster. Since, in the Week 3 matchup of the 2021 season, Fortson scored a touchdown against the Los Angeles Chargers. And Hill needed to pull him off his hype train!

“I have just scored my first touchdown and I’m on Twitter searching my name”, said Fortson while recalling that incident on the ‘Drive Time’ podcast. While the young Fortson was basking in his praise by the fans on the internet, Hill gave him a worthwhile lesson.

What Hill told Fortser in the locker room makes sense on a lot of levels. “They love you today they gonna hate you tomorrow”,  Hill conveyed back in the day. Cheetah advised Fortser to not tie his worth with the opinions of others since highs and lows are to be expected within the game. “I think that was might have been the best uh bit of advice he gave me early on in my career”, said the Valdosta State graduate. Now years later, it would be a feast to watch the duo impact the the Dolphins’ play.

The coming together at the Dolphins

Hill left the Chiefs the same season in which he advised Fortson. The 8X Pro Bowler has been thriving with the Dolphins in the state of Florida. On the other hand, Fortson has more trophies to boast, but limited game time. Not even participating in a single snap for the Chiefs last season, due to injury.

Fortson has completely healed from the elbow injury he sustained in December 2022. The 28-year-old would look to grab as much game time as possible, during his first outing with the Dolphins. His previous camaraderie with Hill might help his case as well.
