Brock Purdy arguably had the worst game of this season. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens came to Levi’s Stadium and stole the spotlight from the NFC’s most venerated team. So, following this game, will the tag of Mr. Irrelevant come back in motion again for Purdy? Does it change anything for the Niners going forward? The team’s tight end George Kittle doesn’t seem to think so.
Although this game was nowhere near a wake-up call, it proved to the Niners that they are not infallible at all. Kittle took the stage in a presser and talked about his takeaways from the game. Safe to say that his trust in the Niners is intact and is not misplaced. Despite Purdy throwing 4 picks, George Kittle backed Purdy after a dreadful Christmas loss.

A reporter addressed Purdy being picked four times in the game and asked Kittle about how he thought Purdy handled it. The TE still has 100% faith in his comrade and says, “I think Brock is fantastic still. I mean just, his mindset and you know, handling it, like, you know, stuff happens. They make plays, they are number one in the AFC for a reason.” Kittle gave the credit where it was due and complimented the Ravens on their big plays.
Kittle said that all the turnovers weren’t on Purdy and that it’s hard to win against the opposition. The Niners are known for rushing the ball well, but the Baltimore Ravens defense made sure that they stopped the CMC train at any cost today. However, they couldn’t do it all the way because Christian McCaffrey still found a way to score.

The team fell flat in primetime with a 33-19 defeat to the Ravens. We didn’t see much of a rush game today because Purdy was unable to make a lot of passes. So, are the fans going to peek at Purdy through the ‘system QB’ lens all over again?

The question in itself is subjective. However, the gist of it is that Purdy needs good weapons around him to score. Fans believe that if players like Kittle, CMC, and others are taken away from Purdy, he wouldn’t nearly put in the same numbers he is churning out right now. If that is the definition of a system QB, a lot of signal callers in the league can be dubbed so.
The 49ers are still in a comfortable spot. They are still the kings of the NFC with an 11-4 record. It was just a bad game for the San Fran team and hopefully, they can come correct in the future as they cannot afford to make mistakes anymore. Realistically, Purdy should be the least of concerns for the team, especially after the All-Pro left tackle, Trent Williams left the game in the third quarter with a groin injury and did not return.

As for Purdy, those deflections on three of his interceptions are not a usual affair. One can say that he would surely be able to brush the Christmas show horror off in the coming games. What’s your take on Brock Purdy?
