Brazilian footballer Neymar has been cleared of the accusations of rape on him. On the contrary, the accuser, Najila Trindade has been charged with fraud and extortion for lying to the police and blackmailing the footballer.
Neymar was earlier alleged of rape, after a woman registered a complaint on the Brazilian superstar. The allegations said that Neymar and the woman first communicated on Instagram and decided to meet in Paris. The woman accused a “drunk” Neymar of forcing a sexual intercourse with her.
The woman also appeared in an interview later, telling her part of what had happened in Paris on the night she met Neymar.

In the video, the footballer was quoted as saying (roughly translated from Portuguese), “I’m very upset but from now on I’ll expose or tell all about what happened with that girl. It was an intimate thing but I have to open myself up to prove that nothing exceptional happened.”
“What happened that day was a relationship between a man and a woman, within four walls, like with any couple. And the next day nothing much happened. We kept exchanging messages.”
“She asked me for a souvenir for [her child].”

The case was closed due to lack of evidence against Neymar. The Police also filed a defamation suit against Ms Trindade, who allegedly insinuated the force was corrupt, according to news agency AFP.
Neymar was reported to be involved in another court case recently where he and Barcelona were involved in a payment due from his time with the Catalans. This came after he failed to move out of PSG in the summer, despite reports of multiple efforts.
