Neymar Junior has squashed all rumors and announced that he will be staying at Paris St. Germain. The Brazilian superstar was linked to Real Madrid on a number of occasions throughout the summer but has publicly squashed all rumors.
The 26-year old was bought by the French club last summer for a record-smashing 222 Million euros. Alongside Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani, he was a part of one of the most brilliant forward line in Europe. By February of this year, he already had 27 goals and 16 assists. However, a severe metatarsal injury caused him to spend the rest of the season on the bench and made his appearance at the FIFA World Cup a doubt.
The 26-year-old did recover in time though, but his performance at the Mundial was underwhelming. That did not deter the rumor mills to go into overdrive, especially ever since Real Madrid sold off superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. Neymar was touted to be the number one choice to replace the Portuguese superstar, so much so that the Spanish club had to release an official press report denying all the claims linking them to the player.
Now Neymar himself has come forward and clarified his stance. Speaking to an AFP News Agency in Sao Paolo, he said,” I’m staying. I have a contract in Paris and I want to triumph with this club. The speculation, I think what most of the media are doing is wrong. I have a contract, they don’t know the objective, why I came here.”
Following this strong statement, it is most likely that Real Madrid will now be moving for Eden Hazard. They will also look to sign Thibaut Courtois as a part of a double-purchase from Chelsea. The price tag will be upwards of 200 million euros and you have to keep following this space for more.
