Formula One has seen a rise of awards in recent years, such as the fastest lap, the quickest pit stop, pole position & driver of the day. So it is no surprise that in order to make the sport more exciting, additional awards will be introduced.

Reports suggest that a sponsor of F1, Crypto, will give out an award to the driver who makes the most overtakes in a season. As of now, it is rumored that Sebastian Vettel is leading and might claim the award at end of the season.

Sebastian Vettel supposedly has the most overtakes in 2021

The German driver is redeeming himself at Aston Martin after a horrific last season at Ferrari in 2020. So, it is no surprise that Vettel has been pushing himself on track to silence his critics.

His determination and hard work might pay off as he might receive the first-ever Cryptocom Overtake Award in F1. However, there is no significant data to prove that he leads in the most overtakes this season. We will just have to wait and find out at the finale in Abu Dhabi.

How’s Vettel doing this season?

The four-time world champion had a slow start to his new chapter at the Silverstone-based team. However, his breakthrough came at the Monaco Grand Prix where he placed fifth, picking up ten points for Aston Martin.

But it was the race at Azerbaijan that has been the highlight of his stint with the British team so far this season. Vettel came second, earning his and his team’s first podium of the season.

The German driver was set to grab a second podium at the Hungarian Grand Prix but was later disqualified from the race over a technical issue. Now, with F1 returning with Belgian Grand Prix, Vettel would be hoping to bounce back and grab a good result for his Aston Martin colleagues.
