The New York Giants have recently released veteran tight end, Kyle Rudolph, from their roster. The move helped free a lot of space from the Giants’ salary cap. Rudolph announced the move on social media after he posted a heartfelt note to the fans and the organization as he heads out.

“Giants Fans thanks for taking me and my family in this past year! Certainly not the year any of us expected, but a year we will never forget.. We’re appreciative of the Mara and Tisch Families for giving us the opportunity to be a Giant.” Rudolph wrote in his post.
Kyle Rudolph gets cut off from the New York Giants
As per ESPN, the 32-year-old tight end reached out to Adam Schefter to reveal that he was not intending to retire from the sport and was, in fact, looking for opportunities to play next season. Though his previous did not come to fruition, but he did have an impressive career with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings drafted the Notre Dame alumnus as a round two pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, the young tight end started 8 of 15 games catching 26 passes for 249 yards having an average of 9.6 yards per reception. After spending a decade with the Vikings he landed with the Giants for the 2021 season.

Rudolph in 2021 regular season
As per his contract, signed with the Giants, he agreed to a two-year deal worth $12 million last offseason. However, his participation with the Giants was limited after it was discovered that he needed surgery for a foot injury. Rudolph missed a large chunk of time, with the Giants missing the entire spring and most of the summer.

During his 2021 season, he recorded just 26 catches of 39 targets for 257 yards and a touchdown in 16 games played, starting 13 of them. It was one of the least productive seasons in his career.

Now that the Giants have cut him from the roster, the organization has freed up $5.2 million in cap space, which will help them accommodate a more productive player ahead of the 2022 season.
