The pre-season testing is over and all F1 teams are back to their base with a lot of data to work with. Red Bull already improved their performance on the last day of the Bahrain testing. It seems the new upgrades already gave the RB18 an advantage. The Austrian team has been developing the RB18 for some time now. Despite that, the 2022 challenger wasn’t impressive at the Barcelona pre-season testing and the same continued even in Bahrain testing.

Amid all this, the 4-time Constructors’ Championships claimed they will reveal a game-changing upgrade on Day 3 at Bahrain. And they certainly delivered on that promise. Red Bull had a phenomenal run on the last day thanks to their upgrades, including their new sidepods. Naturally, the Milton Keynes bases team now seems really happy with their new upgrade. It further gave them an advantage over rivals Mercedes and Ferrari.

The Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko shared, “We were able to reduce the understeer disproportionately.” Initially, the upgrade was worrisome because it was like a backward step. But the results even shocked the Austrian constructor. Marko expressed on Day 3 at Bahrain, “The correlation between wind tunnel and race track is better than expected.

Red Bull boss claims Ferrari is the quickest

The Austrian were impressive on the third day of the Bahrain testing. But the Italian giants, Ferrari, had the most outstanding performance in both the pre-season testing at Barcelona and Bahrain. Even the Red Bull team principal claims that Ferrari F1-75 is the fastest car on the grid.

Horner said on ESPN, “For me the car that looks the most settled on the circuit at the moment is Ferrari. I think they’ve had a very strong testing period so far, both in Barcelona and in Bahrain.”

Even the Mercedes drivers praise the Italian one-seater and they also suggest that Ferrari are strong candidates to win the first race. However, the Ferrari man Carlos Sainz rejects all the praises. Instead, he suggests that Mercedes will win the first race. Sainz statesIf it would be the first year they’ve done it then I would maybe believe them but they’ve done it for five or six years now and they keep surprising us in the first race.”

He added, “As you can imagine I don’t believe much. … We can see what they are doing [on track] and I’m not going to say much.”
