Is Deion Sanders being overprotective, or is this just a classic dad moment we all love?

It’s Deion Sanders’ world, and we’re just living in it! From absolutely dominating the college football community with his coaching tactics, to now entertaining the world with his fatherhood journey, there’s no dull moment in Coach Prime’s life. As the rest of his kids seem to be forging quite a noteworthy path for themselves, giving the father of five some relief, the same can’t be said for the HC’s youngest child, Shelomi Sanders…

Fresh off of her debut for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs (which we’ll talk about later), on November 9, her father shared a rather unique and endearing sneak peek into his bond with his daughter. In an Instagram post, he wrote, “Ok I was face-timing my Babygirl “Bossy” @shelomisanders before her game yesterday…

The game Coach Prime was referring to was the Bulldogs vs Alabama Crimson wherein Shelomi went scoreless for the four minutes of playtime she was given. Prayers for her team certainly fell short as Alabama convincingly registered its second win of the season, and first road victory, after defeating the Bulldogs, 84-59, on Thursday night in the AAMU Event Center.

“… and I said Baby let me Pray for u & she closed her eyes and I said “BABY YOU DRIVING AIN’TCha? Lololol. She opened her eyes and burst out laughing.

“This was certainly a moment we both will never forget. At least she was righteous at that moment. Proud of you, baby girl, and Jesus loves you. “Daboo” #Dad.” The veteran also added a screenshot from the call showing the basketball prodigy laughing. Sanders’ oldest daughter, Deiondra, commented on the post with laughing-face emojis. Notably, this is not the first time that social media got a glimpse of Shelomi’s fun equation with her dad.

On November 5, the Colorado Buffs coach dedicated another IG post to his daughter, praising her for her blistering debut. “I’m SO PROUD OF MY BABYGIRL! Bossy do yo thang baby. You took our Conversation to heart yesterday and sprinted with it. Love u baby. Don’t ever Stop letting them know you’re a Sanders. We’re built for Adversity! 14pts 2stls 1blk 1rb 10 min!!! Thank u JESUS for Opportunity,” he wrote. And promptly, Shelomi responded in the comments, “dabooo daboo dabooo”. While we’re not sure what the phrase means, it sure makes up for some entertaining back and forth between the father-daughter duo.

Have an interesting take?

Having said that, even though Shelomi lost her second match for the Alabama A&M with a high margin of 59-84 against Alabama, her debut definitely took the cake, and…

Deion Sanders couldn’t be more proud

Shelomi Sanders’ performance against the Oakwood was nothing less than magic. Her impressive performance gave an edge to Alabama A&M, helping them to secure a 96-50 victory against their opponent. During the game, Shelomi recorded 14 points, two steals, one assist, and one rebound. Well, this is more than enough to understand why she has been showered with so much love and appreciation. After her game, in no time, Shelomi’s mother, Pilar Sanders, posted an appreciation video for her on TikTok, tagging her brothers Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders, saying, “Shelomi, y’all, my baby got it completely honest! And I love it!! Congrats, Lady Bulldogs, 96-50 0 win.” Knowing what she did for her team, she deserves this hype.

Not only Pilar Sanders but Coach Prime also chimed in and let his little princess know she has no limits and her abilities are beyond measure, saying, “I’m so PROUD OF U BABYGIRL & that at the end let’s them know that you’re a $ANDERS! Daboo Daboo Daboo.” This is heartwarming, especially after the Colorado head honcho was in arms against his youngest after she entered the transfer portal, while at Boulder.

In an interview with DNVR in April this year, the former NFL star had said, “(It) was stupid. You don’t enter the portal. You get a team before you enter the portal. You kinda get a team before you enter the portal. You know, that’s what I would advise a child. And I know, ‘Well it’s illegal…’ C’mon, man.”

He also talked about how the sudden decision hurt his pride: “You’ve got to understand I’m a real father,” Sanders said. “Where I come from, historically, kids follow their parents. The Parents don’t follow the kids. That doesn’t work in my book. That doesn’t work where I am from. I am the leader of the family. So, I’ve been dictating where my kids go. They’re not dictating where I go.”

Shelomi, on the other hand, had no doubts about her decision, as he revealed the real reason behind leaving, “I don’t want to say anything too bad… It just wasn’t good energy. It wasn’t good vibes. There wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and young lady. If I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would’ve quit.” The budding star had reportedly  11 minutes in five games for CU this past season.

Thankfully and expectedly, the duo are in a better place now. As for young Shelomi, hopefully and surely, this is just the start! What do you think?
