If there is one name who has already been the talk of the town for next year’s WNBA draft, it’s Paige Bueckers. While most of the buzz is about her being the probable No.1 pick in the coming season, what elevates everyone’s curiosity is the question if the UConn star will actually tip off her W career by joining a franchise that will play for the first time in the league: Golden State Valkyries. Well, the excitement is understandable, especially with Bueckers herself fueling the speculation with subtle hints. And maybe she has just given one more piece to solve the Valkyries puzzle.
As she gears up for her final season with the Huskies, the 22-year-old guard recently took part in an activity captured by Barclays Center. Teaming up with fellow UConn star Azzi Fudd, the two were asked to quickly choose between a couple of options provided by the host.
Bueckers had plenty of interesting answers, but one moment really stood out—when she had to pick between hitting a game-winning three or making a game-saving block.

While Azzi Fudd paused to think over her answer, Bueckers didn’t hesitate for a second. “Game-winning three,” the Minnesota native responded confidently. Although Bueckers may not be hinting at her future plans just yet, it is the player associated with the signature shot — Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. The NBA star secured the Clutch Player of the Year award last season and nailed 32 game-winning threes.

Curry’s reputation as the king of clutch threes makes him the perfect reference for the Husky star’s chosen shot. It’s hard not to see her response as a subtle nod to Golden State, especially with the Valkyries set to make their WNBA debut next season in none other than the home arena of Curry’s Warriors, Chase Center. In fact, Buckers was recently spotted drilling alongside the Warriors guard.
