In one of the biggest NCAA Men’s basketball games tonight, the Florida Gators upset the Tennessee Volunteers. Facing them after losing each of their four previous encounters, the Gators entered the game as underdogs. But they beat all odds and blew out the Volunteers 75-49.

After the game, their PR team took a hilarious dig at the Volunteers on Twitter. They posted the final score of the game with the caption “We’re lovin’ it” which is a play on the McDonald’s slogan. It is in reference to the Volunteers putting cash into McDonald’s bags before handing them out to potential recruits.

Dan Patrick calls out the Tennessee Volunteers

Radio show host Dan Patrick was the one who called the Volunteers out. “You literally had bag men,” Patrick said on his show. “They put the cash in McDonald’s bags and handed it to the recruits. My source said they were so in your face with this—they weren’t even trying to hide it.

“And that’s where my source said: ‘Tennessee got sloppy. Georgia has gotten sloppy.’ But there’s been no word on the NCAA looking at Georgia. But Tennessee, they got sloppy, and they were handing out cash in McDonald’s bags.”

Their football coach Jeremy Pruitt has been sacked following this saga, but the NCAA is yet to take action.

Twitter is also lovin’ it

Whenever such incidents take place, Twitter users have a field day with insults. The Vols got their fair share too, and some of them were just too good.

Can the Volunteers bounce back from this loss against the Florida Gators?

While it was their football team who were directly involved with it, the basketball team and others associated with the university will also face the heat. The Vols basketball team already lost, and then they had to deal with this corruption saga. So they will be a bit annoyed, but it is still only their second loss of the season.

They play the Missouri Tigers next, who they already beat earlier in the season. It will be a tough game but the Vols can beat them. They just need to stay focused, something they couldn’t do tonight. These two teams meet on Saturday, January 19, and the Vols will play the hosts, in what promises to be an exciting matchup.
