The Gonzaga Bulldogs juggernaut refuses to take a halt. They have mauled over every opponent they have faced and are not ready to give up their #1 spot. This has come via some excellent basketball played by coach Mark Few’s boys, and former star Dan Dickau is loving it.
During a recent interview, Dickau praised the current team for how they work on offense. He said, “I see poetry in motion with these boys. The way they share the basketball, they know they’re getting it back.
“The simple things that you teach in coaching, like setting a good screen and cutting hard to the basket. Or setting your guy up for a back cut or running hard every time on the break, getting the ball out quick. All the little stuff you try to teach in basketball, they’re proficient at it. What they end up getting is a ton of easy buckets, layups, dunks, wide-open threes.”

Later, Dickau also praised the Bulldogs for their deep rotation. He said, “You make Suggs have a bad night, we have so many other guys that can come out and hurt you. You could take our top 2 or 3 scorers and shut up them down, and we can bring guys off the bench who can nail you. It’s a very unique and difficult team to prepare for and guard.”
So far, the Bulldogs have 10 players who have played in at least 11 out of 14 games. They have four more players who have played at least five games. They also have four players who are averaging double-digits in points. All these factors just point out how excellent their rotation is, and like Dickau mentions, how tough to guard.
If you put your best defender on a guy like Jalen Suggs, Corey Kispert or Drew Timme can punish you. Joel Ayayi has also shown that he can win games for the Zags.

Coach Few has put together a brilliant team this season, and a set of players who don’t want to settle for anything less than a title. They are the favorites to win the NCAA tournament, and so all eyes will be on them, to see if they can continue this form when it matters.
